Has cmc legitimately humored any of the rumored interest from any of these rumored schools/nfl teams? Or is this just speculation with zero legs 100% of the time? Has he even fielded a phone call that we know of from anyone?

He has long said he won’t talk to anyone about jobs during the season. He doesn’t have an agent so I think he’s earned the right to take him at his word. So I’d guess he hasn’t taken a single call about any other job and this is 100% coming from the media.

Unless cmc ***** the bed at some point and doesn't go bowling, it would be really tough for any university to wait until after bowl season to court and secure cmc. Then subsequently tough for him to put together a recruiting class if he does decide to move on At some point..

CMC is a good man. He came to Iowa State to re-establish a culture. I feel he knows he has not finished that purpose.

Bears likely have an open spot now. I think very unlikely but it’s a big opening.

Didn’t he leave Toledo before their conference championship game to come to ISU?

The thing that I've been wondering is... does our $30+ million dollar shortfall in the athletic budget due to Covid prevent us from giving Campbell the bump he deserves after this year?
I think other programs or areas of the AD budget feel the pain even more in order to give CMC the bump. If we can sustain this success and keep CMC around, the future earnings potential from the football program is even more lucrative than it already is. If money is the only thing needed to keep CMC here, then Pollard will have to do whatever it takes even if it hurts everywhere else in the AD.

Not exactly sure.
If we can get back to normal next year. I would imagine a decent bump in ticket prices, and a few donors to step in and clean up some of the hole. 60 minutes last night had a segment about schools cutting sports and pointing fingers at football. Don’t point the finger too much, without them they would be in HS gyms for the most part.

JP really seems to always be on top of these situations. He knows every year that we have success that teams will be coming after CMC. So I'm not concerned that he hasn't already thought this over and possibly has even met with CMC to see what it will take to keep him here..... and if we can even offer him what it would take to keep him here?

JP can't completely bankrupt ISU to keep CMC here.

And nobody could blame CMC if he left either IMO. I think he could easily make the case that he's accomplished what he set out to do here..... get to the Big 12 Championship game. He may have said "win a championship", but that could very well happen this year.

Fact of the matter is.... if CMC wants to be here... he'll be here. We can't afford to pay him what Michigan can.... but if CMC likes it at ISU, his wife and kids like Ames, and he likes a more laid back place where winning 10+ games every year isn't expected.... he will stay. Money will not be an issue IMO. JP can offer him enough to keep him VERY wealthy, especially living in the middle of Iowa.

Money doesn't seem to be an issue with CMC. He gets a raise and makes sure a good chunk of it is available to pay his staff.

There's a stats based argument that ISU will have two of the top 10 skill position players in all of college football coming back. Breece is statistically #1RB overall and returning #1RB, if you look at the full three years Brock is very close to #1 returning QB.

That combined with the fact that the OLine is finally turning the corner and a guy like Rose among others coming back on defense...
Playing devil's advocate mostly to protect myself from disappointment... we're going to likely lose all three tight ends and guys like Eisworth, White, and Bailey who are absolute anchors next year. I'm expecting growing pains, especially on defense. Having two elite pass rushers really makes this defense a machine, so I hope someone can fill Jaquan's shoes. Will be necessary for someone like Cordarrius Bailey to break through, or maybe a youngin' like Johnny Wilson or Corey Suttle. Blake Peterson has been getting reps but he seems more like your high-motor run stuffer to me.

Threads like this serve to remind me of the diversity of thought out there to what a successful career looks like. Some people want to go to the very, very top. Some people just love their job. Some people want what's best for their family and some people view their coworkers as their family. Some people just want to make a lot of money. Some people want a challenge, or want to believe their doing good through their work. Some don't want to work much at all (Mike Leach).

You have to have a strong mindset to make it this far in college football, and a lot of guys are obsessed with making it to the top as fast as possible. Luckily for us, I think Campbell is a more complex person than that. It's a testament to him that he's made it this far in his profession staying true to his values.

I think it’s a long shot we lose all three tight ends. I think if Charlie goes pro at least one of the others will stick around to be the “main guy” to improve their stock.
