Sure it is. How about one EO from the President saying no one can sue over Covid as no one can ever prove where you caught the virus.

Would work in a dictatorship or if we had a monarch of some sort. In the USA this would be inconsistent with our Constitution.

Wasn't the Big10 Commissioner just saying last Thursday that he would let his son play college sports and had faith in the universities. What changed?
Yeah I'd be a bit intrigued if he'd end up going to a game down south to watch his kid..

Or....we could have Congress just eliminate frivolous lawsuits all together. This ain't just a Covid issue. So much money is wasted in CYA because lawyers in this country have gotten out of control.

Apple just sued a company called PrePear because somehow these two logos look similar to someone. That's where we are as country.

This seems more like an out-of-control monopolistic company than a problem with frivolous lawsuits?

Is sports a bigger risk than a frat/sorority house, dorms, cafeteria, classroom, etc? These athletes are in a controlled environment and ISU is having success with that controlled environment. That could change throughout the year, but as of now, ISU has been able to manage this situation.

If you're expecting them to stay in this controlled environment for the semester just drop the facade of them being student athletes. They can pull it off during the summer, but once classes start, there will be no isolation possible.

Classic small government.

There are serious reforms needed in this area but we'll just have to leave it there for now. Limiting frivolous lawsuits is absolutely limited government. Now whether you need an EO or better judges/system who knows.

There is a gigantic world of difference between the NBA and college football. For one, the NBA actually pays there players, and two they can put the entire league in a bubble. It is impossible to put one CFB team into a bubble, let alone an entire conference worth of teams. Baseball has like one third of the players of a college team, and even the MLB can't prevent outbreaks.

If anyone plays football this year, kids will get sick, coaches will get sick, and there's a very good chance someone (probably a coach or staffer) dies from it. Not to mention some of the long term effects they've been seeing like lung and heart disease.

If anyone plans on living life this year, some will get sick. Really? you don't say.

Congress taking away an individual's rights under the 7th amendment is the biggest government anyone can imagine.

That doesn't really apply because none of these are common law lawsuits. But I'm no lawyer, that's who we are complaining about here.

Yea, a hell of a lot more people will get sick this year than a normal year because COVID-19 is way more dangerous than the diseases we normally deal with. COVID-19 has already tripled the amount of deaths from the flu in a typical year, and we're not even 3/4 of the way through the year. It is not only more deadly than the flu, but also spreads easier.

Should we all just ignore it and live life like normal? Estimates are we would see 2 million dead from COVID in a year if we had zero mitigation efforts. How many people should die from COVID-19 so we can watch college football?

THEN CANCEL ALL IN PERSON CLASSES IF ITS THAT BAD. But we won't see that. Some of these guys are chasing their dream of being pro athletes.

Cmon Big 12!

This could be big for ISU if the Big 12 moves forward and does so successfully. Would be a lot of eyes on the conference and could lead to a lot of great exposure with a damn good team.

Absolutely, this would really help raise the Big 12 profile. And if we play it may the last nail in the coffin of the Pac 12. The Big X would be hurt but be ok.

Liability isnt an on\off switch. Theyve determined that it is too difficult to make it happen for football, but for basketball it may be more doable, with more ability to isolate the players, more ability to reschedule games, etc.

I still don't think there's anyway the liability is lessened to a point they are comfortable. Foregoing the millions and millions involved with football would indicate the potential liability has been determined to be enormous. That doesn't go away by this winter.

Maybe in the days before Disney took them over but they don’t have to reach for anything anymore.

ESPN stands to lose massive amounts of money this fall without college football. It wouldnt surprise me at all to hear they were on the phone right now with big 12\ACC\SEC leaders offering to give them additional money to go ahead with the season
