Phone calls at 7 in the morning are never a good thing.

Daddy passed away last night in his sleep, around 11.15p. Lew is sleeping so soundly I don't want to wake him.

I'm not sure how I feel right now. I think I'm going to try to curl up & go back to sleep.
I'm sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. From your stories, he seemed like an absolutely brilliant man and he raised a wonderful daughter.

He was - literally - a rocket scientist, who memorized maps and studied encyclopedias for pleasure. And although he was severely color-blind (red/green), he loved jigsaw puzzles with a passion and always had one on a table ready to work on.

He was a perfectionist, and very strict with his rules and his daughters. There's a country song that some of you will think is kind of sappy, but Holly Dunn's "Daddy's Hands" sums up what he was and how I viewed him...except that I don't take for granted how much he loved us.

The downside of not having a reason to return home (Manchester) anymore is I'd always load the trunk up with Goodwill sort of stuff to donate to the Camp Courageous benefit sale that runs there each year. My mother ran that for years.
My MIL helps run it now -- has for the past 10-15 years.

Homer "Duh" moment. Braved the Covid and the heat for a grocery run. Got the walleye, steak, bread, pizza, bananas and even bought some peaches.

And forgot to buy beer. Looks like a return trippy. .

And we'll see how that peaches think works out. I usually hit at 30% on peaches that turn out to be ripe and juicy and not mealy, mushy or hard and unripe.

Well, it came out funky. His legs really aren't all that long, although he WAS pretty skinny. I took a picture of the onscreen picture from my computer, and loaded that in here.
Edit: Looks (mostly) normal here. When I was posting it, the picture was stretched vertically.

Wherever I go, there I am.

Batting .300 isn't too shabby in some circles!

One downside of the full on walrus mustache is that it gets into your wine and the wine drips off your stache onto your shirt. Uncool.

Learning from Sam Elliot, so drinking bottled beer.

Listening to a podcast, and they have a commercial for what basically boils down to a version of 23 & Me for your dog(s).

Errrrrrmmmmmm. Sure.
