Probably have a smaller pool if you found out who liked Ashton Kutcher.
His wife might it's hard to sayThat's a good point, but then I'd have to know who liked Ashton Kutcher. That can't be good for a person's psyche.
You might want to read up about how China and the WHO worked in concert to downplay the outbreak. And if you don’t trust American media there are plenty of international sources.I for one am not giving China a free pass. Yes, they could have been truthful from the start back in December. However, our government (national and local) totally let us down since they knew what was going on at least by mid to late January. They wasted over a month spewing lies and misinformation instead of taking it very seriously and making preparations to keep the numbers far fewer than they are now. I call it a total and unequivocal failure.
That's absolutely no excuse for our so called leaders. WHY did we waste well over a month of precious time when our own intelligence people were giving out dire warnings about this deadly and rapidly spreading virus? That has NOTHING to do with China or the WHO.You might want to read up about how China and the WHO worked in concert to downplay the outbreak. Do you realize that as late as 01/15 the PRC and WHO were both tweeting the virus "wasn't person to person transmissible" ?That's absolutely no excuse for our so called leaders. We can have more than one goal. One goal I’m pretty sure we always have is to save American lives at all times, whether civilians or in war time. But hey, if you want to post this trope 10 times a day like you have been go right ahead. Take a picture of yourself in front of a “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” banner.
do you realize as late as february 28th Trump called this a hoax and feb 26th he said we have 15 cases that will go down to zero.Do you realize that as late as 01/15 the PRC and WHO were both tweeting the virus "wasn't person to person transmissible" ?
I don’t think PPE is that hard to get at this point. I haven’t even heard any doctors complain about lower PPE levels than what they think they should have for the past couple of weeks.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/cbs2io...sume-elective-procedures-after-month-long-banThey aren't complaining in the news or on social media anymore, likely because they have enough now to deal with the current level of corona virus patients. But, for example last week when the Governor issued her order saying that hospitals could open for elective surgeries if they felt it was safe, Cedar Rapids hospitals did not open because they determined there was not enough PPE.
That's the issue right now. They don't have enough in many places to increase the level of activity.
Thanks for the update...given how the curve seems to be going, these figures seem to be playing out. Now, the 60% herd number, while it would start to slow transmission, doesn't stop it...you still have to go through the remaining population. The best play does seem to be slowing it through restrictions like social distancing, especially in large settings. Vaccines are obviously the best bet, but that is still some months off...@knowlesjam
The NYC antibody data is embedded here:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ny...nyregion/coronavirus-new-york-update.amp.html
Looks like the post you were responding to had just a tiny little error. The antibody-positive rate for the Bronx was 27%, not 47%.
The overall antibody rate for NYC is still estimated at 20% positive. Still consistent with a fatality rate on the order of 0.5-1%. Which still would suggest a potential death toll of at least (330 million in US x 60% infection rate minimum needed for herd immunity x 0.5% conservative death rate=) 990,000 in the US before herd immunity could be achieved.
Lots of other very striking demographic data in the linked article: notably, only 7% of white NYC residents were positive for antibody, while 25% of Hispanic residents were positive. Yikes.

Complete lockdown for a month? Then what after a month? Ease restrictions and watch it spread?Or a widely available, safe and effective therapeutic. Not these shot-in-the-dark fasttracked retreads like hydroxychloroquine and remsividir.
My COVID Power rankings:
1. Vaccine
2. Mass testing (of all kinds, including antibody) and tracing
3. Reliable, easily obtained, and cheap therapeutic solution
4. Social distancing, SIP
5. Complete lockdown for a month. COM-PLETE.
I don't know what remsividir is but remdesivir has proven somewhat beneficial to treating Covid 19. Not a true game changer, but helpful.Or a widely available, safe and effective therapeutic. Not these shot-in-the-dark fasttracked retreads like hydroxychloroquine and remsividir.

@cmjh10Piglets will probably be first to be euthanized.
