I would amend that to say "reckless at best and malicious at worst." And even that might be generous.

But your central point is correct: there's very little we can say with absolute certainty about the virus.
It’s called many things, can you even call it a virus

Football practice? Probably. Games by fall? Probably.

Tens of thousands of people from out of town invited to college towns and crammed into a stadium? I still see that as unlikely.
I've seen it referenced before and I agree with, if the students are back on campus, then football will go on normally. If not, then we won't see football until that can happen.

I disagree with this.

Football, the game, can happen with things back in session.

But there's a big difference between that and inviting tens of thousands of people into town. That's just asking for an outbreak that could cause the school itself to have to shut down again and the school needs to do everything it can to reduce the chances of that.

It would make the case for the university providing some support to the AD (because attendance $$ is being shut off to protect the academic mission of the school), but the university already expects to lose a fuckload of money from this.

I don't really see the difference having plus 30,000 students on campus from all different parts of the country (and world). Many, if not most, students will go home on the regular rubbing elbows with however many other people. For football games, you can at least contain people to parking lots and the stadium, generally. Plus, let's be honest, people that are concerned for their health aren't showing up anyway. Attendance numbers are going to be bad this year regardless.

What dorm were you in? That’s a weird mating ritual.

I read a take that of all the sports to get back to playing, football is the riskiest to the players since many of the lineman could be considered high risk for the disease.

I graduated at the age of 33. And my wife wouldn't let me stay in the dorms. Secondly, I don't understand what you're getting at.
College students rubbing elbows versus other body parts

Just saw on NBC nightly news about another cruise ship thats stranded?

They didn't say how long it's been out there, but people were still boarding them over the last two months?

Are summer classes going to be held as well?
Yeah, but there are some regulations.

I know the undergrad summer research program won't be starting until June 15th at the earliest, and they've canceled the option for out of state people to attend.
Some of the programs that run through June got cancelled as well.
I've had at least 3 students who were affected by this.
