Will be fairly upset if she starts opening stuff up after cancelling school a week ago.

Opening up a business is very different than a school and I'd hope businesses are opened up partially for pick up only.

yes she can because medical facilities should have PPE.

The other side of this i want to know is are our hospitals still woefully low to nonexistent on PPE supplies as i know they were. If they are, then those nonessential surgeries and whatnot should still be restricted so that those limited supplies can be saved for essential needs.

If she’s allowing farmers markets to open she might as well allow everything else. Des Moines farmers market gets as busy as a small fair. There’s no room to walk. People breathing down people’s necks. Won’t catch me down there.

Id be surprised if DSM farmers market (as well as some of the other major ones in the metro areas) opens right away. They'll probably make their own call.

This is a good point. I've not really seen discussion on this for quite awhile.

It's being implied from the fact that the current order expires on May 1st and hasn't been extended
I think this is again freaking out. May 1st is still a week out. A lot can change in that time. I think that opening stuff back up is going to be incredibly difficult to navigate. Expecting long lead times IMO is naive. I think seeing how the weekend goes is an absolutely necessary thing.

It's too pessimistic to talk about and if you DON'T talk about it even though it's happening then it's all of the sudden not a problem for some and everything's fine.

It has sounded like many hospitals aren't overwhelmed, but I haven't seen anything about them being supplied with enough PPEs to be ready for a surge.

She used the testing infrastructure as a reason we are ready to open back up, but the newly announced testing plan isn't anywhere near going yet. It would seem prudent to make sure the testing program gets up and running and you at least start getting some initial data before opening back up. I guess we'll see what gets announced Monday.

and we don’t know if there is enough to use it as intended. For example, they should only be using n95 masks once. How often are hospital workers switching?

kim said the emergency order for PPE is still in effect.
I'm more curious about the higher level. Like, is the supply chain getting replenished at this point, or is it still at the point of stock out?

I havent talked to them in the last couple weeks, but those i knew in hospitals had been largely out of masks even before things started hitting here.

We've used 'overwhelmed' based on patient counts\ICU beds\ventilators, but if we cant follow proper procedures to keep our health care workers safe, then we are still overwhelmed.

Sounds like that new model the state was working on with the U of I produced some really positive data and metrics that led to today's decision.
