Who's available? Give me names for a good discussion.

I'm not the one calling for the firing of Prohm, I think I am on record of giving him another year. So its not up to me to provide names.
Its also a cop out to say its up to Jami, he is not the one that wants to make a coaching change.

I really doubt that Marshall or Dana or going to take the job, they both have been approached before and turned it down.

Leath did not pick any candidate, he just would not let JP "hand" the job to TJ without a full scale process first. If TJ came from that, it was fine.
The process selected Bryce Drew who turned us down and then it selected Prohm. Pollard ran the process, not Leath.
It could be worse I guess....

Throw money at Gregg Marshall or Dana Altman. We really need to quit trying to strike gold with these unproven mid major hires and bring in someone who has solidified themselves in college basketball. Youd think with football having success the money we can pull from would be greatly increased from the last coaching search.
why would Altman leave Oregon for Iowa St.?

Marshall is probably out of our price range if we have to buyout Prohm as well.

I'd go after TJ...they are 2nd in their conference behind San Diego St. and he's brought in some good players including Jenkins from SDSU and a good wing player from Utah. He should be able to find some transfers that can contribute. His high school recruiting isn't that bad either from what I saw on 24/7.

I think some think that ISU is more of a destination than it really is.

No he’s 11-9, but he took over the complete opposite situation Prohm did here.
If he isn't notably succeeding at a lower level now, that gives me pause about bringing him into our current situation. Now is not the time, unless we're happy with another dirt-cheap, risky, lower hire. To me, that's just setting us up for another new coach in ~4 years barring another Hoiberg-like miracle.

The meltdown on this forum from people would be worth it for him to come back.
Maximum drama potential would be Hoiberg returning, then completely sucking in round 2 of coaching, then going to the NBA again anyway.

Are you serious? You think he should have UNLV off and running after 2 months? He took over a train wreck. You think a good coach is going to be able to come to Ames and fix this train wreck in 2 months once Prohm finally gets fired?

First paragraph, one would have to submit had anyone else but Prohm been here we wouldn't be where "we are at right now"......even Fred. With that, are you sure with his look on recruiting, and the transfer market catching up could even he have maintained the "best 10 year stretch"? Would you be calling for a reset right now......or because it's Fred........what the H?

Your last paragraph.....sounds exactly like the founders of this site (the reset part, because they just hated Wayne) were spewing after the 05-06 season towards Wayne Morgan and looked what happened. Hired the good-ol Iowa boy who would at least lose with "integrity" instead of win the rucker park way. And look what happened, congrats CF. So be careful in what you wish for.

Lastly..I thought there was a consensus the 17-18 season was the "gimme" season for Prohm due to recruiting or lack thereof by Fred? Was that just BS from the many of BS artists on this site? Okay then....with that there is a 23 win(disappointment)and this season(which has 15 games left) so far as your reason for a "reset"? So is that correct that you are....right now.....wanting to dismiss a coach who has had one........ONE losing season so far? Not two, or three, or the GMAC integrity four..............just ONE? Unbelievable!

Congratulations. I didn’t make it past the first paragraph, but that single paragraph was the dumbest thing I have ever read. That’s impressive.

Once again: no proof he can fix it as of right now. You think after one year there not fixing them, he will fix us?

How about waiting for a standard of proof? "Now is not the time". Once again: trying to not set us up to redo this all in 4 years.

For those that have watched TJ's teams, how is his coaching?

I am not on the TJ train like some but if he hired the right staff to help him manage games, he could do well here. He would absolutely upgrade our talent level and he plays an uptempo style.
People have no idea how bad UNLV was when he arrived, it was nuclear winter bad in terms of morale and returning players. Right now, he is the runner up for COY in a league with an undefeated team.

Will Wade. Dude cheats his ass off and it does not matter at all to the NCAA, apparently. That would be awesome.

So he gets credit for the first two years based upon a roster that was already fully constructed for him. Gets no fault for the weaknesses in the 3rd year which he had 1.5 recruiting cycles to fix. Fourth year was a success in my mind with a #6 seed but this year is trending very very poorly. Even you have to agree that a tournament miss this year means it is NCAA tournament or bust in Year 6. If you are a Top 25-30 basketball program in the country then you don’t miss the tournament 3 out of 4 years. And make no mistake we were a Top 20 basketball program when Steve took over.
