i did get it to work through bunny ears, however its better if i connect it directly up to the satellite which someone may have been referring to. I dont think my local ABC 2 is HD

All I did with my Direct TV reciever was plug the antenna into the back. And then went back into the menu to search for off air channels. I live in Marshalltown and I get 8,13,17 outta DM and 2,9,28 outta Cedar Rapids. My rabbit ears aren't HD specific either and it works fine. The nice thing about it is on Sundays 8 and 2(CBS)show different NFL games, some times 17 and 28(FOX) do too.

I'm clueless when it comes to this technology stuff. Can someone tell me if there's some way I can get the game if I live in Ankeny and have DirectTV high definition?

So did you just use a cheap pair of bunny ears? I am going out today to buy an antenna as I have never had anything but Direct TV w/my tv so haven't had use for one to this point. Anyway I definitely want to see the game Saturday and was thinking about going to buy the cheapest antenna I could get. Do I hook these up to the DTV box and get the channel or do I have to go to antenna in my menu and do a channel search on my tv to get it? I have not followed anything w/this switch over as I didn't think it would effect me since I have Direct TV.

There goes my great plan to sneak upstairs at the megamall while my wife shops and watch the game at Hooters. I'm guessing they won't have rabbit ears for a second ABC channel for me.

Wow, I can't believe that by living outside of Iowa I can actually get a Cyclone game that I couldn't get in Ames!! That is just crazy.

To the question about the game being in HD on 5.2, I highly doubt it. While with digital stations, a channel can be broken up into many sub-channels, ie. 5.1, 5.2, 5.3.... there is a fixed amount of bandwidth. Each subchannel that is added must steal some bandwidth away from the existing channels.

I have never seen HD broadcast on a sub channel, usually it is like a SD simulcast or a 24 hour weather station or something. I assume this is because the compression required to fit 2 HD channels would cause a drop in picture quality.

Supposedly if the HD signals are 720p, you can have two simultaneously. ABC/WOI is 720p, so theoretically they could do it. Knowing how good WOI is at getting their **** together, however, I doubt our game will be in HD.

They should have GamePlan. It'll be on that I'm sure.

Jonesie I was think the same thing...4 all the badmouthing of mediacom ...the people with cable who are ISU fans have got a real good shake from mediacom...

Yep, I agree. That's the only reason I keep Mediacom is because of the extra ISU programming (mainly early season basketball games).
