I'm so glad it's Friday. It's getting really difficult to get up any enthusiasm to come to work anymore. Don't get me wrong - I like my job, and I work for an incredibly wonderful family, but it's so defeating when you have such an a$$hole for a supervisor.

And the tough part is, we have 14 very talented, willing people here.....and they're all disillusioned and defeated by this guy's crap. We even wrote letters to senior management explaining our issues, and nothing happened. No, that's not exactly right. It actually got worse.

Sorry to throw cold water on everybody's Friday. I'm going to go home and have a few gin and tonics and let it roll off me.

One of my old colleagues graduated this week with her PhD.
Department announced that she's taking this year to do revisions and find a publisher while prepping for the job market.
She's married to an engineer/lawyer, and she'll use her law degree to do some consulting as well.

I think I did it wrong, but I have a chance to make it to 5 figures again this year. A very shaky chance, but a chance.

I pull the stickers off bananas, currently the Lion King ones, and stick them on my kitchen counter backstop. Cause goofy and fun to do. Niece just sent me a picture of a Lion King banana sticker on her backstop in Montana where her 2 1/2 year old insisted it be placed. Apparently the little kiddo saw this at my place and now thinks this is a cool thing to do. :p

I despise roundabouts. Not because I don't know how to use them, but because of all of the speed-demon idiots that DON'T know how to use them.

Can't disagree on that point.

I just ignore that aspect since I know I'm saving fuel and brakes, and it's safer and easier than other intersections.

Wish others read up on them but that's too much to ask.

Welcoming a kid in hopefully a couple months and now the paperwork to head back into public accounting 11/15 or so is signed, sealed, and delivered. Yay for absolute hell the next 8 or so months.

Work for my in-laws now and they didn't take my coming departure well at all (even though they gave me no choice). Came in Monday to my admin turning in her notice as well so now they're even more upset I'm not hanging on through the end of the year to ensure smooth transition since there are only 2 people in the office.

I wish they would do something with the roundabout on our street. (I have heard that it was the first one in the Twin Cities.) It is just a huge swath of grass that isn't maintained well so it generally looks moderately crappy. I'm not asking for a ton of landscaping, but even planting a tree in the center would make it look like they are trying something. I have even thought of planting one myself and seeing what happends. A small tree probably wouldn't last though, because at least once a year some idiot will drive straight across it.

I think even if they only mow it once a month, ten years from now a relatively good sized tree in the middle would look pretty good.

Yeah some sort of shrubbery should be in the middle of them since as a driver you're generally only (or should be) concerned with who's coming from the left.

Pretty sure there were stories of people actually trying to ramp them from the middle. Sounds fun if you don't have a frontal lobe.

Not exactly sure.
Last couple days I’ve realized there is a new rule that has come into effect since I had young kids. It is, if you have a kid in a stroller you are entitled to cut it line, run into people and if you are watching something they are entitled to just walk and stand directly in front of you. It’s also all my fault and I need to apologize if they hit me while I’m standing still.

I have about 10 within a mile of my house and I think they all have a bunch of landscaping in them with a tree dead center. Somehow amongst the giant hill in the road, the roundabout sign, and a tree right in the damn middle of the thing people still miss that there's a roundabout during the winter.

Nope. Don't agree with those rules. Is there a story behind all this?

Wherever I go, there I am.
I know Boxster has talked about being a sci fi fan-- there may be others in here as well. Has anyone watched any of the episodes of Another Life? It is a recently released Netflix production with Katee Sackhoff as the lead.
