Noticed that Clayton Custer is still playing college basketball.

He's got to top the "he's still in college?" hall of fame

I would actually put us a bit lower. We have a lot to prove. Last year, we were DEAD LAST in the conference, with lots of space between us and #9. We were COMFORTABLY in last place.

St. Johns has been awful for years. This guy has them ranked #20? They were 16-17 last year, and 4-14 in the Big East. I realize they have some transfers, but so does pretty much everyone else.

Agree, SJU at #20 is extreme. I could see a tournament bid, maybe. The backcourt is expected to be high-impact (Heron is a notable transfer addition). Is that enough to go from roughly .500 to top 25, expectation-wise?

Can I assume most of ISU's games will be on ESPNU or News again this season? Many are set up that way already...looks like they haven't decided yet on several conference games.

I'll need to purchase Sling if so.

I have Sling and it worked great last season by just using Sling Orange + Sports Package for $5 extra (to get ESPNU, ESPNews, etc)

I think that's what I did.

I have cable (part of rent) but it doesn't carry ESPNU or News so have to pay the $25/month or whatever to see those games. Cheaper and less hassle than going to a bar or whatever.

Hopefully the non-con part of the schedule goes well and ESPN or ESPN2 pick them up.

I had forgotten how poorly we did last year. I must have blocked that out. At least they were fun to watch. Really looking forward to this year.

Poorly as an end result, but we were very much in contention for a bid if we had finished strong. Instead, our injury bug snowballed. If I had to put money on it, I'm not sure we would have made it even without injuries, but we'll never know.

Feel like its a fair ranking considering we finished last in the conference last year. That being said, I do think we'll out perform that

BTW ESPN released their rankings of the 353 MBB teams on ESPN+. I won't give the details since it is a subscription but ISU comes in at #29.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...5/college-basketball-ranking-every-team-1-353

Thanks for update, I don't have a subscription to E-plus. 29th is higher than I would expect, but I think far more accurate than ISU's placement on CBS 1-353. (Without being able to view ESPN's entire list; it'd be interesting to compare the two).

We might have been too far "underwater" entering February to get a a bid, but you're right how the injury plague, along with lack of depth, killed even an NIT bid.

Two interesting things, look at this link from last season's results and see how many Big 12 tournament teams ISU played in February, and something I didn't remember, how many points Wigginton scored in each game down the stretch (additional note, assists by Talley and Nick, rebound team-highs by Lard).

Kind of fun to look back on. Missed on Kansas, Nevada, and Villanova in the top ten.
Also missed on Iowa State by quite a bit.

Nice find, thanks for the bump. Seems like I started the thread only about a month ago -- season has flown past.

I guess missing only 3 of top 10 isn't too bad. Also no real surprise of ISU prediction being off, none of the preseason analysis expected much.
