Thanks to @cyfanatic13 for this idea! What are your favorite appetizers? There was already a little spitballing about this last week.

For me - fried pickles, all day err day. Especially the ones that they used to have at Cafe Northwest (RIP).

From Longhorn. White cheddar stuffed mushrooms. Incredible!

Skins.

Baked potato, thin layer of potato left on it, cheddar cheese melted onto it, chopped green onions & bacon, and a dollop of sour cream.

It's been 30 years - STILL have not found a place in central Iowa that makes them as good as this little place in Berkeley, CA... :)

This one is hard, because it depends on what I am feeling that day. I do enjoy good onion rings. If a place has them, corned beef egg roles. Mozzarella sticks.

I make killer pepper boats - halved and hollowed jalapenos, filled with a mixture of Hot Italian sausage and sour cream, and wrapped with bacon. The vixen puts them on the grill for a bit (so the bacon gets crispy), and then into the oven. On gameday the guys wolf these like no other. (Me, too).

Second place: My SIL's pickle wraps. Always a family get-together hit.

The Smoking Hereford in Storm Lake has some awesome cheese curds, best I've had in Iowa. Family Table always has good onion rings. The nacho plate at Brick City in Ames is pretty solid.

For something that doesn't fill me up, a solid cup of egg-drop soup or clam chowder hits the spot. Otherwise, the BBQ shrimp at Jack Stack are pretty awesome.

If I'm going for something more filling, chips and salsa/guac is tough to beat. Or cheese curds, or garlic bread, or fries, or chicken wings.... I may have a problem with moderation when it comes to appetizers.

Where they love the governor
There's a little restaurant in our neighborhood that has Candied Bacon Bombs. It's candied kielbasa wrapped in bacon and served with fried cheese curds. I could eat the whole thing if my wife would let me.

Also, pretty much any frozen appetizer from Trader Joe's. Those things are all legit.

Edit to add photo of said bacon bombs:
