Fans on the internet love to **** on the conference tournament, but anyone who's attended knows it's anything but meaningless.

KU fans **** on it because they don't always win it. KSU fans **** on it because they never win it.
From my experience KU downplays the importance of it and justifies getting rest when they don't make it past semi's.

K-States Net ranking could jump significantly if they won the Big 12 tournament. Their seed line could easily improve by 2 or even 3 seed lines.
Not true at all. They could play at most 2 really good teams. No one moves up 2-3 seed lines with 2 wins when everyone else in contention is playing good teams as well. Plus, Tech is a #3 seed and Kansas is a #4 right now. Beating them isnt like beating a #1 and a #2 seed late in the year.

KSU's weak non-con and the relative "down state" of the top of the Big 12 sealed their tourney seed fate and capped them to about a 5 seed.

Kansas lost in the quarterfinals in 2017. And still got a #1 seed in the ncaa tourney.

Kansas lost in the semis in 2014. And still got a #2 seed. Beating Iowa State in the semis and then Baylor, who made the finals as the tourney's #7 seed, would not have earned KU a #1 seed that year. We would have had 8 losses if we won the Big 12 tourney. The 4 #1 seeds that year had 0, 2, 4 and 6 losses.

We lost in the semis in 2012 but still got a #2 seed. Maybe we get a #1 seed if we win the tourney but we would have been the #2 seed in the west instead of the #2 seed in the midwest where we played in front of a pro-KU crowd in St Louis to make the Final Four.

So three times in the last 7 yeats we failed to make the semis of the Big 12 and it didnt negatively affect our ncaa status at all. AKA meaningless.

I know you have a narrative you're playing to but the facts do not support it.

but what about the purple?~
This is a fun fan experience. It's labor for teams already securely seeded in the tournament. And an opportunity for those on the bubble. That's why I wonder if Wade will play in it at all. It's not going to have a big impact on K-State's seeding one way or the other. On the other hand, it may be very important to TCU, OU, and Baylor.

The B12 tournament is phenomenal. I've always loved going to it.

Really is. We've been going since the early 90s when the party room

Agreed and I saw a thread on the Iowa rivals board saying if they could get a 2 seed still. I just shook my head. Their ceiling is a 4 MAYBE a three but that would have to be because a lot of teams lose early in their tourneys.

It's what the KU fans I have interacted with said.

We've definitely enhanced our seeding by winning the Big 12 tournament. 2014 and 2015 for sure. Maybe even in 2017 as well. A 5 seed isn't great, but we had 10 losses. We were a 10 seed in 2013 with 11 losses. The difference? Big 12 tournament title.

Anyone that's been in the building for an ISU-KU Big 12 tourney matchup understands how important it is. Does it have a huge impact? Depends. But it's always a juiced-up atmosphere. Something that doesn't happen for a game that "doesn't matter".

If they finish 14-4 and win the Big 12 tournament I can’t imagine them being lower than a 4. You would likely have a neutral win against two of Iowa State/Texas Tech/Kansas.

Winning the Big 12 tournament title in 2017 may have given ISU a slight bump in seeding as compared to 2013. The much larger difference in those years was that the Big 12 was significantly better in 2017. ISU went 12-6 against tougher competition in 2017 and 11-7 in 2013 vs. lesser competition.

The case of 2016 sinks your argument. ISU lost in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament but still got a 4 seed. Had they won it that year? Probably still a 4 seed.

The year we beat KU in the championship, the KU fans leaving the Sprint Center (the few who actually paid the money to enter the arena) didn't appear to think it was meaningless.

If I bought tickets for it then yes, obviously I would like to see KU win and would aggressively cheer for that to happen. That still doesnt make it an important game.

Kansas doesnt have the ability to get a big win against a typically Top 10 Kansas team to bolster their tourney resume like all the rest of the Big 12 teams have. There are less quality wins available to Kansas than the teams that play against Kansas.

Kansas isn't a top 10 team this year homie
