With Lanning playing for San Antonio (and starting), hoping they do well. Interesting as well, Logan Woodside played for CMC at Toledo so that makes it even easier to pull for them.

Besides the OL, the quality of play has been better than anticipated.

A lot of these guys already have experience in the NFL which probably helps. I don't think the difference between practice squad and NFL backup is very big. These guys are basically as good as practice squad players and some may be even better.

An interesting thing would be to see if in the future, if this league lasts and partners up with the NFL, they decide to let some of their backups get some PT here like NBA is doing with the G-League. The threat of injury probably makes it doubtful but it could be an even better way to get fans engaged - a chance to see the guys play who never are on the field for their favorite team.

A bunch. I didn't think he was on the field at first but looked up his number and was like "whoa."
They have him listed at 231 lbs. I dont remember what he was listed at in college, for some reason I was thinking like 205 his senior year.

I’m really impressed with this so far

This could be fun - 8 teams, 10-game schedule is just about perfect. Not too much to follow. They can always build from there if it takes off. Quality of play is pretty good. This crowd sounds pretty impressive, doesn't quite look as big but if it is successful things can grow.

Illegal defense is interesting. They can only rush 5 on passing plays. Wondering what the purpose is - a player safety thing or trying to create more scoring? That penalty really hurt San Diego.

2017 cyclones roster says 230, but I dont think he was really that big.

Yeah I like this too, I just wish they could have gotten into a couple northern areas somewhere. But with most dome stadiums owned by NFL teams I am sure that is hard to do this time of the year.
I hope with all the new leagues coming a couple of these work out. More football is always better.

Wow, I didnt think he was listed that big, and yeah I think you are right, I think they may have enhanced his weight a bit there.

This league seems like it is set up in the right way. I hate that there is going to be multiple competing leagues here in a year or so. What will likely happen is that none will last and we will be back in the same place in 3-4 years. I know the XFL is coming to St. Louis and doesn't have any teams in cities of the AAF, so maybe they can coexist.

Or they may merge in a few years. There have been rumors of this, because they were started by friends. So the thought is they are going to both try to establish themselves in different cities then merge the leagues, to try to directly compete with the NFL.

Trying to compete with the NFL would be idiotic. I think the way the AAF is doing it right now is the right way
