I love Shayok. Not hard on him at all. Giving out all A's is boring.

Yes, given the offense he played in at Virginia, his age, and what I saw in CCL, I expected him to be our best player. He's a better scorer at this point than Wigginton, and it wasn't that difficult to see that coming.

Docking a likely Big 12 player of the year for three turnovers a game on a team that barely averages more than 10 (13th in the country) is exceptionally critical.

Shayok is definitely our best player. He has a shot to receive Big 12 player of the year. Anything lower than A for him is just silly.

For the sake of argument someone could mention defense, where he's been less than spectacular.

I haven’t read the thread because I don’t want to. I know without looking people will be hard on Wigginton and Lard. Both have had injuries. Both have goals beyond playing for Iowa State. Everybody on this team is doing their level best and IMO this is the best team we’ve had since Fizer/Tinsley. This team is made up up the individuals on it aand I’m very pleased with this season.

A for everyone. From 10th in the Big 12 a year ago to 15-5 and top 15 on KenPom, Net Rankings and ranked top 25. Basketball is a team game. We couldn’t be where we are if you eliminated any player from our rotation.

Yeah, there are some guys that have been a little disappointing, like Lard and Wigginton, but they seem like they are coming around. Most of that disappointment is from knowing these guys are way better than they had been playing.

Others in the starting rotation have exceeded my expectations by a lot. After the mess that was last year this season has been a pleasant surprise.

One tiny negative is sometimes this team as a whole makes dumb passes trying to get fancy.

Based on results to date I couldn't give Lard or Wigginton anything higher than a C grade at best. The talent is there but until the health and consistency is there both have under performed based on what they did last season. If both hit their strides in February this team is going to be scary good going into March.

I think it’s time Wigginton starts to ball.

I'd go with 3rd best team.

I meant it as a positive. This is my favorite team.

For the sake of argument someone could mention defense, where he's been less than spectacular.

All player grades were too high because people didn't take into account defense. If we are going to make a run at a Big 12 conference title and hope to make an NCAA Tournament run - we need to play better defense across the board. I wouldn't give anyone on the Clones better than a B for defense- so I don't see how anyone's overall grade can be better than B+. Defense and rebounding are critical elements of a players grade.

IMO we are getting ahead of ourselves after a solid win against Ole Miss. Ole Miss was horrible on D. The key for the Clones is if we can win grind-it-out games against tough defenses like WVU, TCU, OU. January might have been our mid-terms, February will be the finals that count for 70% of the final grade.

A indicator that we might be turning the corner on offense is the fact our offense ran from from inside out. About 70% of our shots were from 2- THT was great running the offense from the high post. He was a little out of control at times- but reminded me a lot of Georges. Uncanny in getting his shot and dishing to others.

Hopefully we can make the next steps on defense/rebounding.

I think it is difficult to give the starting 5 anything other than A's. Only one of those guys played at Iowa State before this year and he (Babb) was returning from a injury filled season. Two are freshman that have played well enough to be known nationally and be listed as potential NBA draft picks. Then Shayok is playing at a level demanding POY consideration. Finally, Jacobson has been a rock in the post when you consider Solo has been out basically the whole year and Lard has only started to play like his old self. Given the injury/suspension issues on this team, these guys all really stepped up and made a season of what could have been a disaster.

I have hard time to believe any body give Shayok lower than A. Does any body really expect a transfer with 9 PPG in Virginia become leading scorer in Big 12? I don't know how the B+ or A- comes from. Name last ISU player leading Big 12 conference score, I don't think many people can do it...Shayok did this season is much better than expectation..

I think every starter will get A or A-. The only regress players are LW and Lard...Young is incomplete
