This was like a $500 Craftsman that is about 7 or 8 years old and never ran smooth or well. Shakes and shimmies and had to have the pull cable removed because it cause electrical arcs between the handlebars. I’m thinking maybe it’s time to give up and buy new. What did u have that u put $200 into it?

Does anybody else’s snowblower just make them reek from the exhaust? That’s what annoys me the most about winter. I like to snowblower, but hate that I have to change and shower or smell like gas.
Sounds similar to what you have. It's an older 26" MTD 2 stage. I had pull started it for a couple of years because the electric starter was shot. Was getting progressively harder to get it started but once it was running, it ran great. I decided to get it tuned up and bought a starter online. Hindsight is 20/20 but I didn't have any reason to think it wouldn't last a few more years when I repaired it. Not sure what I am going to do now. It appears to be an easy job to replace the motor if I can find a match. A similar new snowblower looks to be in the $700-$900 dollar range.
If you don't need a large snowblower. I had a two stage snapper that was a very nice machine. Stripped the gearings out and went to an Ariens then. Didn't have electric start, was only 6-7 hp, but started within the second pull consistently. Did a great job and after 10 years or so, people thought it was only a year or two old.
I bought a new snowblower a couple years ago and ended up getting a Craftsmen Quiet Electric Start. Couldn't be happier with it. Most snowblowers are so damn loud, you can hear them a mile away, but this one I can actually use without going deaf. I can even say something to my kids outside without screaming.
go get a huge piece of cardboard and stick in on your windshield under the wipers, it will save a lot of the ice battles. Just fold it up and throw it in the trunk when you don't need it.
I bought a used snowblower at a garage sale a couple summers ago for $75, and last winter I had a horrible time getting the stupid thing started. Pulled in 20-30 times before it would go. I was worn out before I starting blowing the snow. This year I got it out, drained the carb, put in new gas, and cleaned the spark plug, and it still would not start good, so I started the take all the shrouding off the carb area, and here is the primer hose just hanging in the air. Cut off about half an inch and stuck it back on, and it has started first pull ever since. Must have been broke before I bought it, because the electric starter motor was toast. Looked like the thing was only a couple years old when I got it.

One of our neighbors pretty frequently has two cars in the driveway. When I've seen the door open, there's a lot of stuff in the garage and another vehicle. Like, throw that **** in your basement or something. There's something wrong with you scraping snow off your car in the driveway cause it won't fit in your garage. At least make it fit 2 cars

Decided to bust out the garden hose and stand on my deck trying to get snow off of dish.
When I snowblow with a beard and get ice that forms in it
Having to watch the dogs and make sure they actually go down the deck stairs and don’t just pee on the deck.
Constantly shoveling aforementioned deck stairs for them.

As an avid skier and snowmobiler, winter hauls ass Attitude is everything and I have loved all seasons for almost 40 years.
