The Little Things I hate about Winter

Since we are looking for little annoyances:

When you brush the snow off your car, but then when you open the door to get in, and a tiny avalanche of snow falls in from somewhere directly on your seat. You try to brush it out, but most stays. So you get to melt it with your butt and have a wet spot on your ***. Thanks, winter.

@Angie

Here is another snowboot option. I give this the thumbs up.

Our garage is our primary entrance into the house so I can't stand all of the grit that the cars drag into the garage.

It won’t. I have a 3 car garage that can barely fit one car in. And it’s always the wife’s car. A garage is just a storage unit.
I have a 3 car garage that we put two cars in. The third stall is a workshop and kids' outdoor toys storage. I will probably tell the daughter she needs to get rid of a bunch of stuff and clean it up if she wants to park there when she starts driving.

I would have thought working less than a mile from where I live would be a good thing in the winter. However, it's kind of a ***** when everything else is closed but you realize you have absolutely no excuse as to why you can't make it the 6 blocks it takes to get to work and so you drag your *** in.

There are many things I hate about winter. However, there are few things that infuriate me more than clipping along shoveling my drive and hitting a crack in the cement and stopping my shovel and walking directly into it at a force that feels similar to getting punched by chuck Norris in the stomach.

I have one spot in front of my office where there used to be a flagpole or something. A little rectangle piece of metal that sticks up maybe an 1/8th of an inch. I know right where it is. I know I don't want to hit it. But I swear to you every single time I clip that sucker and throw my shoulder out of whack.

I do not think this looks like a jackass. The gloves are bad, who wears half finger gloves?

I used to think what's the point with half finger gloves until I ended up with some. They are great for tailgating under my regular gloves so when I have to do something that needs more dexterity than I have with my regular gloves I can take the gloves off and still keep my hands relatively warm. I use them under my mechanic gloves as well when doing things like installing/removing exterior Christmas lights that require me to constantly be removing my gloves. I guess one nice thing about getting old is I don't feel I need to be constrained by fashion - comfort and practicality get top billing.

My third stall is all woodworking tools. The 2nd stall is usually project in various state of completion and kids stuff. That leaves one stall to park in. I’m about the only one in my neighborhood who parks in the driveway. My neighbors probably disapprove.

You need to talk to @ImJustKCClone about the plans for building a Garage Mahal.

Every garage in our neighborhood is at least a 3 stall. Some have 3.5 or 4 (third is deeper). Most own sheds.
Cars are everywhere in driveways and the street.

- Running out of gas in the middle of snow blowing and finding that your gas can in the garage is also empty.
- Having those packed snow streaks in your drive that just won't go away from where you had no choice but to drive over snow before you were able to clear it. I have this problem right now, north facing driveway and we haven't had warm enough temps to melt it enough to scrape. Have put ice melt down a couple times that hasn't done much to it either.
- And this morning snow blowing about 6+ inches at 6am while it was still snowing pretty steady so I'll just have to clear it all again tonight when I get home.

Spent nearly $200 getting the carb tuned up and electric starter replaced on my snowblower last month only to have it blow a gasket and seize the engine this morning.

Yikes! I probably need to bite the bullet and take mine in for a tune-up sometime. Carb probably needs cleaned or something, it starts right up but runs a little rough sometimes if I don't have the throttle or choke set just right. Bought it in 2004 so made it almost 15 years without ever being serviced which is a pretty good streak.

My neighbor parks in the street instead of his driveway. The snowplow has to avoid his car so I end up with a pile of snow sitting in the space where I need to back out of my driveway into.

Also - squirrels. Those little fluffy tailed yard rats have chewed a hole in my covered deck and nested in the eaves of my house.
