Why would you “have to think that”? As you said, he just got a raise and extension. Let’s see how next season goes. This would be the spot for assistants to get raises.

That doesn’t even mention that announcement of an ambitious new expansion. Unless you’re ponying up, money doesn’t grow on trees.

I also have this odd suspicion that some bonus clauses kicked in for CMC so far this year.
And maybe beat Iowa for once?

Those guys were overpaid. Stupid to follow their example. Campbell is well paid. Assistants well paid. Trust Pollard to take care of things. Campbell appreciates Cyclone Nation. That is a consideration as well. I am sure Pollard and Campbell are communicating.

Campbell gets some huge bonuses for achieving wins, bowl games, coach of the year. Factor those in and Campbell is paid very well. See the assistant money rising a bit first.

What a stupid post. You are confirming your credentials on being an expert.

Maybe we could go back to the days of McCarney where Iowa got bad and we would beat them and then not be competitive in the conference unless it went all big 10 west and we didn’t have to play any of the good teams too.

Players like Sage Rosenfels, Ben Bruns, etc. worship Dan. But what do they know compared to a keyboard yahoo like you?

He can't?

I'm pretty sure. An OC is always also a position coach. We have all positions covered. We are at our limit of on field coaches.

If you want an OC, either someone has to be promoted to OC (i.e. Goulesh still coaches TE, but is also OC or Gasser still coaches WR but is also OC) or someone has to leave.

It's not like there was a real open position this year.

Campbell will make about $4.1 million or so this past year. Campbell is paid pretty well. $3.5 million was the minimum and it automatically gives a $100,000 raise in base salary every year. Pollard is the expert.

That was after a minor bowl game. This year they built on that to the highest conference finish in modern times. We are going to an actual legitimate bowl for the first time since the 70’s.

Pollard isn’t in a position of strength. Fortunately he knows this, and isnt a **** ad like you seem to want him to be. Max urick is gone, and stupid nickel and dime stuff like you want will not prevent us from keeping a coach

If you think he's firing the Special Teams guy and the O line guy, you are nuts. He can't hire an OC without a current coach leaving. All spots are full.

There isn't an OC right now, so that spot is open.

As for OL and Special Teams... you definitely could fire them and get someone else, however, CMC won't do that. He'll give the new young OL coach at least another year or more. He likes him.

CMC will do whatever he feels is best, I'm just saying what I think he should do.

It’s open. But there is not an on the field coaching job open. He can’t just hire an OC and keep everyone who is currently on staff.

He hasn’t been operating with with one less coach than every other team. He just didn’t have a coach with the OC tag.

Give him $500K...takes it to an even $4M...and about #5 in the Big 12 ranks. Give his assistants...particularly the DC, another $500k to spread out. Oh yeah, make him hire an OC and pay the OC the league average or better.

I can dream...can't I???
Doubt if Pollard makes him do anything.

$4.1 million is not chump change at all. Want Campbell to stay. But we also need to make investments to our program which help Campbell to be even more successful. If Campbell had made the Championship Game then you would have a point. But we did not. We made it to the Alamo Bowl. But it is not the Sugar Bowl.
We are going to a mid range bowl game, not an elite NY6 Bowl. We have a ways to go before Campbell starts commanding up to $5 million per year. Like some Championship Games and NY6 Bowls first.

The market isn't what you want it to be. it's the market. Campbell needs to make the type of money that his peers do. End of story.

Mid range bowl game? While not NY6, it is a top bowl outside the NY6.
