Some of my favorite Aussie band names (omitting a few cool ones included the thread so far):
  • The Celibate Rifles
  • Front-End Loader
  • Sidewinder
  • Beasts of Bourbon
  • People With Chairs Up Their Noses (yes, this is real!)

Of course you need some Air Supply

Air Supply started their first North American tour - or at least that was what I heard at the time - in Iowa. When I was in HS (This must have been around 1980 or 81), they started their tour at Luther College in Decorah.

Lots of people wearing their concert shirts the next day. I was a classic rock snob and wouldn't have lowered myself to hear such swill, plus I, um, am pretty sure I couldn't come up with the $25 or so for the ticket. I was "All out of love" or at least cash.

3 pages in and no mention of this band? I am definitely getting old. One of my favorite bands back in the day.

Angel City (aka The Angels)

Courtney Barnett - have to include this one as there aren't many songs out there about swimming laps.

if you like Courtney, Youtube "drunk on Election night" from Denver. I'd post, but it is NSFW. It was recorded on the night of the last Presidential election. it would be one show I'm not going to forget soon.

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard one time that Billy Thorpe released Children of the Sun on a record label that went bankrupt right after the album launch and that is the reason the song/album didn't achieve as much success as it might have. The physical albums were out there but nobody was pushing/hyping it.
