Kyler Murray wasn't expected to get picked this HIGH. #9 is a lot of cash to pass up on. I suppose the A's could still let him play football though. Be very risky for them though.

Did they really have a starting qb on June 4th after losing the number 1 draft pick?

Next person behind him would be having his first road game at ISU.

That’s like $3 million guaranteed at that pick. Idk how you pass that up
Don't think he will. Guessing he will take the money, pay his own way for school for 1 semester and play QB this Fall. Once FB season is over he then becomes a full-time baseball player.

Could an injury on the gridiron risk that $3 million, though?

If he blows out a knee, can Oakland tear up the check?

Wouldn't this make him a professional athlete and thus ineligible?
Believe Ricky Williams did that while he played at Texas.Played minor league ball in the Summers.

Also there has been a ton of guys who got paid by MLB and then came back to CFB once they flamed out in baseball.

But with NCAA rules who knows...

The 9th pick is valued at $4.8m. Thats a lot to risk for one more season of football. Also, really surprised a team would take him so high if they know he is still committed to playing fb.

I can't remember his name but there was a guy that came through CR in the Angels system and a couple of years later was a star WR for Texas.
