I was thinking yesterday about what the greatest sports moment was for each of the past few years. What do you think? And what makes it the greatest sports moment?

2018 - ?
2017 - Pats comeback in Super Bowl
2016 - Cubs win WS or Cavs comeback
2015 - Pats Super Bowl win?
2014 - ?
2013 - Auburn returns field goal to beat #1 Bama?
2012 - Kings win Stanley Cup as 8 seed
...

Probably not the greatest, but certainly one of the coolest was the Pairs Cross Country Ski race in the Olympics this year

It's only April, but right now the leader in the clubhouse has to be the Minnesota Miracle. Not just for the unlikeliness of it, but the crowd reaction and the radio call. It was perfect. Best moment of the 2018 sports calendar to date.

The Notre Dame women's Basketball Final Four and Championship game buzzer beaters are in contention.

Yeah I don't see how it wasn't the Minneapolis Miracle. Vikes were all but dead and had a literal walkoff in football. Unheard of. Not to mention the stakes were for a shot in the NFC Championship game.

These are good ones, too. UMBC would have been a better story if they hadn't bowed out the next round, but I suppose you could make the same argument against the one I picked.

The Notre Dame run was good, too. Extra credit for knocking off UConn along the way. But it wasn't as high profile. By Tuesday morning nobody was talking about it anymore.

So far this year I'd go with:

1. Minneapolis Miracle
2. Shaun White's clutch gold medal on the very last run
3. UMBC first #16 seed to beat a #1 seed.

UMBC is better for 2018 because that never happened before. Their 2nd round loss doesn't affect that.

2016 is an absolute no-brainer. Cavs comeback was cute, but the Cubs were about as historic as sports history moments get.

Yeah sadly for NCAAW they just had the most exciting final four ever with two buzzer beaters (1 to knock off UConn) and it barely had traction.

Umbc was more competitive in their next game than Minnesota was. Historically, umbc beating the number 1 overall seed and winning by 20 in itself is something we might never see again.
