Yeah, agree. Loss of two guards really hurts OU for next year. I think maybe kids were unhappy with how Krueger handled the team this year with Young.

I was about to say the same thing. It'd be one thing having a successful year with one player hogging the spotlight, but it's different when you aren't winning a ton of games.

Was impressed with McGusty in 2016-17. Didn't seem to improve much this year, but I always attributed it to the Trae Young circus being in town. At any rate, figured he would be a guy for them the next couple years

OK State is basically left with Lindy Waters + Cameron McGriff and then an entire new team. Nothing to write home about in the recruiting class either. Cade mentioned Michael Weathers, he should start and could be a nice piece, but they're going to reallllly struggle next year.

I count 6 scholarship players returning as of now + 2 (sub 250) commits. 5 open spots this Spring.

Texas recruit Jaxson Hayes probably will not be a one and done. If bloodlines have any bearing on potential, he will be a first round pick eventually. His parents are Jonathan (Iowa football) and Kristi Kinne (Drake basketball) Hayes. Yes, the Kristi Kinne from Jefferson that was MVC player of the year under Lisa Bluder.

Hard to believe Averette is transferring. Imagine he would have seen a ton of time next year. They will probably trying to find grad transfers and Jucos to fill out their remaining scholarships.

If Shine comes back Averette may have been looking at a similar 20 minutes/gm backup role. He likely knows how the staff plans to use Weathers and goes against him in practice.

Shine, Weathers, Waters, plus Dizagwa and Curtis Jones (former top-100 IU transfer) is a decent backcourt, and Ok St was looking to add guards (recruit over) this spring even before the announcement of the transfer.

Oklahoma landed a likely sit out transfer: 6'6" SG Kris Martin. Averaged 13 & 4 his sophomore year at Oral Roberts before transferring to Colorado State and sitting out this past year. Would have to graduate in 3 years at 2 different schools to be eligible next season. Seems unlikely but someone may have more on this than I do.

Shine is not coming back. Good note on Jones, he's not listed on their roster but I see he will be a guy who is eligible mid year next season. Would be odd if Averette leaving was mutual. Oklahoma State is going to struggle mightily next year anyways, would think they'd be trying to hold onto any experienced production they have.

Wonder if he will get some kind of waiver due to the Eustachy situation?

Where did you see it official on Shine not coming back? On Senior Day his comment was ”it’s up in the air, I really don't know what I want to do right now” and the story on Averette transferring mentioned it’s still unknown. Hopefully he goes, and given he participated in Senior Day one would think it’s likely he’s leaning that way.

They may be last, but Weathers, Waters, McGriff isn’t a bad core. If they recruit Shine back, plus add a grad transfer this spring like they did in Smith, they’ll beat some people in GIA.

Good call. Just saw he is appealing to the NCAA for a waiver that would allow him to play immediately because of a change in coaching at CSU. Also doesn't rule out the possibility of graduating but that seems unlikely.
