And? You do realize that you can settle for a jumper from INSIDE the three point line, right? It's just that most people don't do it much because you're taught from about middle school on that the worst shot in the sport is a long two point jumper.

If you stop holding on to specifics of an overall argument, you would get some credit. His whole point is that WVU didn't drive the ball to the rim near as much as they settled for terrible shots, which is 100% accurate. Their game plan was awful, yet they somehow were in control on that game most the second half, mainly because KU couldn't create a shot to save their life. People hanging onto the FT argument are funny. It's not the reason WVU lost.
If you watched that game and thought it was called fairly you are dumb. Did WVU settle for a shot at the end when they drove it and Udoka fouled him outside the paint and the official swallowed his whistle? Huggins had every right to say what he said in his press conference
Never said it was called fairly, in fact I've said a few times that descrepency is alarming. But it's not why WVU lost the game.
I think it is why they lost the game. They could have prevented it from happening if they would have scored down the stretch but they should have never been in that situation to lose anyways
My opinion is you can overcome bad officiating and win but it can also be the reason you lost. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. Officiating is why we lost the Niang Elijah Johnson game even though we could have won in OT
It's not easy to pretend a 35-2 foul discrepancy doesn't have an effect on who wins and who loses but you're doing it
If you told me that West Virginia lost 35-2 in the free throw battle back when they first joined the Big 12, I'd believe you, because they are physical as all hell, relentless, and have always played aggressive.

It was 16 for KU, 12 for WVU the first time they met this year. 15 for ISU, 14 for WVU when we met this year.
You can't tell me all the sudden WVU became THAT much more physical, while never getting to the line.
No officials, the final score is 68 - 51. Officials quite literally won the game for Kansas.

With 3:47 left, the descrepency was 25-2 and WVU had an 8 point lead. In the next 3:23, KU went on an 11-0 run and only shot 2 FT in that stretch.
Meh, another year where KU has the Big 12 refs in their back pockets but then get to the Dance where its called right down the middle with no agendas and they fall on their face. Can't wait.
Yep 25-2 is crazy. WVU should have been up 15+ at that point not 8
I don't disagree. However, WVU should be able to sustain an 8 point lead at that point in the game, and the officials did not dictate KUs 11-0 run. WVU lost because they buckled down the stretch and took piss pour shots. They overcame the FT descrepency for 16 minutes in the second half.
