Let's say the Powers That Be are hell-bent on advancing the new tornado as a secondary helmet logo, and are unyielding to the throwback cyclone. I still think it's a lazily designed funnel cloud, but as others have said, insistence on the multi-color complication makes it even worse.

To make it even serviceably effective, you have to limit it to one color or possibly two (depending on helmet background). Excuse my crude renderings, I did these in about 20 minutes.

Ugly isn't strong enough of a word to describe those.

I'm not a fan of the logo but I do believe I could live with these that you've made. The easiest thing that JP and the athletic department is to simply keep it simple.

I didn't like the new logo at first, but I'm liking it now. It just needs to be the opposite color of the helmet, Cardinal helmet, yellow cyclone. And Vice Versa.

I never thought I'd like the I State logo so much until this secondary logo came out..

It blows my mind how the AD can never get these things right..

I like the I-State logo and the new logo. I'm old enough that the Orr - nado would be the Criner-nado for me unless or until we establish a new winning tradition.

I don't think the new logo is terrible. Not great, maybe a 5/10.

But compare it to the updated Tornado, which is a 9.9/10, and it becomes a 1/10.

Can you flip the logo on those helmets? I think one of the major problems is that it appears to be backwards.

Did you read the article? Did it not show that our current winning percentage is worse than that era? Also our entire history of football has a losing record.

Your argument is stupid. And exhausting. It's repeated over and over. And it's stupid and exhausting each time it's said.

My biggest issue is that it lacks the feel of an actual logo, meaning a symbol to associate with our program. If they were going for the most generic looking tornado symbol, then they hit the nail on the head. Just looks like they googled tornado logo and shifted it to our color scheme.

I'm not a fan of the logo but I do believe I could live with these that you've made. The easiest thing that JP and the athletic department is to simply keep it simple.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of JP and what he has done for ISU. That being said, it seems to be and issue with this Athletic Department to not go the route of the simple look when it comes to logos. On the post above, with all the helmet colors with the logo on them, the ones that are single color, line drawings, in a contrasting color to the helmet, do a pretty decent job. I'm still not a huge fan of this logo, but when it's simple, it works a lot better than the multi color/red shaded one they used against Texas.

Even with the I-STATE logo they started it out the wrong way, using multicolor red on a red helmet, beveled edges, etc. It looks decent up close, but they don't seem to grasp the bad translation it gets from a distance or on TV. I really like the outline I-STATE logo on the white helmets we did this year. It just stood out better than it does when you try and shade it with colors that are the same as the helmet.

The first time I saw the new logo, I knew what it was, but I really believe teh only reason I knew what it was, is because I'm a Cyclone. I honestly feel if I wasn't an ISU fan, or especially any random college fan from outside the Big 12, I'd still be trying to figure out what we had on our helmets.
