I actually thoroughly enjoyed this podcast and not just because I work here. It is nice to hear from a different perspective sometimes.

I'm sure Hawks On My Belly guy has a take but that doesn't mean it's worth hearing. Punk *** Jon Miller's take means the same or less.

**** Iowa and their hairy circus side show freak of a shill.

I'm sure Chris knows him personally at a level we're not privy to. Right Chris? .....Right?

Otherwise, I do not know how else one would subject one's self to that level of condescension. Nothing from Jon comes off as genuine except the condescension. He's skilled at masking it with make-up compliments but it's all negated by the ugly way he talks to/about people.

I think if you know Jon, his schick is salty, backhanded compliments, and condescending....if you except that going in, its not a big deal. Chris is more of a tell it like it is person. I enjoyed the podcast and their varying styles. Jon did hit on some truths under all of his condescension. Other times, he was just pandering to his fan-base.

He didn't say that did he?
He was calling for a change pretty much up to the start of the 12-2 season and pounding the ridiculous "Iowa deserves better" argument as if Iowa is a great job. Let's see, poor recruiting grounds in a state with another P5 school, can't sell out the last home game on the way to the conference title game. Sounds like the ultimate destination job to me.

He is also always saying Iowa is a "Top 15 program". Yet they have spent nearly 90% of the 2010s unranked.

Went on a bike ride and listened to it all. The first 15-20 minutes were almost unlistenable, but it got mildly better. CW did a good job of letting JM go off on long idiotic tangents.

Reminds me of the saying:
Better to remain silent and be thought of a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Agreed, the second half was much better than the first. JM is the worst kind of Hok fan

After listening to the podcast and reading this thread, I have come to realization how sensitive and solemn many CF posters are.

I found it to be an entertaining listen and just remember that like many media members, JM has a "character" he plays. This also happens to be a perfectly crafted character to effectively antagonize ISU fans. It appears his shtick is succeeding at a very successful rate.

p.s. Maybe growing up in Eastern Iowa near IC has made me very aware and tolerable of U of I fans, IDK. People are people.

At the rate (looking at the numbers this morning), this is going to at the very least crack the top 10 for our most listened to podcasts. Didn't expect all of you guys to love Jon. I haven't looked but I'm sure the posters on HN aren't crazy about me. Just wanted throw out a fun, different, interesting piece on game week supporting a mutual sponsor of the two sites.

My theory is that is popular and most convenient to dislike "Tavern Hoks" and post of forums "F@ck Iowa", etc. with the protection of anonymity behind a screen and avatar, but most all of us have friends, family, neighbors, etc. that are Iowa fans and many of these people we may love and genuinely like. Just my humble opinion.

You failed. I'd rather hear what Hawks on my Belly has to say.

How would you know? The Iowa fans are in the Western Suburbs.

What was your question again?

p.s. Sure alumni ≠ fans, but I the highest percentage of U of I fans are easily in eastern Iowa. In recent years there seems to be far more ISU fan representation in the central IA as well.
