The Iowa State women's basketball team (18-11, 9-9 Big 12) is set to square off with No. 24 Kansas State (21-9, 11-7 Big 12) on Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Cyclones earned the No. 5 seed, with KSU entering the tournament as the No. 4 seed. Iowa State is riding a five-game win streak into Oklahoma City, which ties Baylor for the longest current streak in the Big 12. Iowa State looks to make it six-straight for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
Who: Iowa State vs. Kansas State
Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena - Oklahoma City, Okla.
When: Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m.
Projected Starting Lineup: Seanna Johnson, Jadda Buckley, Meredith Burkhall, Bridget Carleton and Emily Durr
Radio: Cyclone Radio Network/Learfield
Talent: Rich Fellingham (PxP); Lyndsey Fennelly (color)
TV: FSN
Talent: Ron Thulin (PxP); Brenda VanLengen (color)
Again, Iowa State has three of the Big 12's top 10 scorers with Johnson fourth (15.7), Carleton in fifth (15.5) and Buckley in eighth (14.2). No other Big 12 school has more than two in the top 10. Defense needs to pay if they key on the big three. To move on, we need points from Burkhall and Durr - and some bench points, maybe a half dozen each from Starks and Bowe.
• Lewis, a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and a three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team recipient, is averaging 14.0 points on a .561 field goal percentage and a career-high 8.2 rebounds per game.
• Wesemann earned her first career league first team honor with a career-high 14.0 points per game and is shooting 87.6 percent from the free throw line.
Rubber match. We know CBF and staff have a great game plan, we haven't had a lot of success in conference tournaments in recent years - let's get one.
Go State!!
