Bridget was even unanimous, a big honor for her.

Seanna and Jadda both suffered from the fact that you can't put all three on the first team given that ISU isn't a top tier team overall. I think voters decided Bridget was the best of the three and largely left the other two off.

Not arguing that Bridget didn't deserve recognition. Seanna finished the regular season leading the team in scoring and rebounding and was 4th in the league in both, but was not worthy of being either 1st OR 2nd team? BS.

Seanna bested Bridget in Points, Rebounds, Assists, FG% and 3Pt%. But Bridget is unanimous 1st team and Seanna is HM?

that makes no sense at all

Seanna was undervalued. That being said Carleton shot 70 more threes and was less than a percentage point lower in 3pt %. And while she ended with seven less points her averages were better in Big 12 play, against much stiffer competition.Their statistics are almost interchangeable, which is why its weird that the All Big12 teams look like they do. Seanna was forgotten it appears.

How can a "First Team" have ten players?

It would be interesting to know the All-Big 12 selection procedure. We know they are voted on by the head coaches, but not much more. I've never attended a college All Conference meeting, but did participate in many HS meetings.

At the HS level, the protocol was usually having the coaches nominate, by order of conference placement, how ever many athletes they thought were worthy of first team honors. Generally, coaches in the lower half would be reluctant to nominate for first team, unless they had an exceptional player on an otherwise unexceptional team. When nominating, coaches would have a brief opportunity to explain why their athletes were worthy. After all nominations were in - the coaches would vote by paper ballot and the votes would be counted and announced.

Then, for second team, the process would be repeated, and coaches could re-nominate players that did not make first team if they desired, or they could nominate different players. Then vote, tally and announce.

Then, for honorable mention, coaches could place two deserving players, often seniors, occasionally a promising underclass player. No voting.

In looking at the All-Big 12 awards, it almost makes me wonder if the teams nominate once, and the top ten are first team, and the next five are second team. Typically, higher placed teams have some unspoken leeway to nominate more athletes, with the proviso that if they go too far, they will end splitting the votes among them and risking dropping them a little. Perhaps Baylor may have gotten all three on first team if they had stuck to three?

Just speculating - perhaps MRed knows more about the actual process??
