Seems like a good thing. Legitimizes the NBA minor league system somewhat. Now if they just make the salaries big enough to entice the best players to stay there instead of going overseas for the bigger paycheck, then they might be onto something. Better players, better product.

I would have preferred to have Gatorade put first and have it be something like the Gatorade NBA D-League. Still wouldn't have sounded great, but it would have sounded better

If this bumps the salaries up to 40-50k a year then I'm all for it. I think that's what it will take to keep better players from going overseas.

I think they'll have to go significantly higher than that.
60-70k?

Do players make much more than 100k per year in Europe? I would think guys would be willing to stay where they are familiar and have a much better shot at getting a 10 day contract.

Well, if the D-League wasn't serious (or profitable) before this, the G-League isn't going to help that.

However, if someone wants to start the G-String League... :jimlad:

Because nothing shakes your bush league image like tacky commercialization of your very identity and brand, right up to league and team names and uniform patches.

It never really was a truly developmental league. It is just a minor league. Hope having a main sponsor will help it be profitable so more players won't have to go overseas to make a decent wage outside the NBA.

Good thing it's not called the G-Spot, otherwise attendance would fall. Too many men wouldn't be able to find it.
