You're correct, Iowa does have a better quality win -- Purdue compared to Tech. Also beat ISU.

Composite "good losses" are about the same. Iowa also lost at home to UNO and about half of Iowa's wins are vs. sub-200 RPI.

Your main point, though, is we have to root for teams like that to validate ... I think the loss at Iowa has to be absorbed, it'll never grow into a semi-positive on the resume, but it's unlikely to be damaging.

Unfortunately, Iowa is probably better than us, and they start like 4 freshman and a sophomore. We are not a complete team without any "bigs" at all. And Iowa gives great effort every game from every player. We do not. If we decide to play hard, we're not bad, and probably better than Iowa, but we choose not to play hard on some nights.

This team is good enough to win it's just they have to play a certain way every game or the result is what we saw at Iowa and today. They are not good enough to just show up and play half assed. Everyone needs to be focused and on point.

I think if even semi-decent Burton shows up today it's a win or at least a chance at the end.

I think if Prohm can get him to come around like McKay last year some good things are still on the table.

You'd think if Naz is having a 19 point game that things would be opened up enough for more movement and high percentage shots but obviously it wasn't the case.

The biggest problem I had today was our defensive gameplan. We played like OSU tried to play us...completely selling out on everything and overloading each side every swing. That was regression to bad Hoiball defensive teams for no reason.

Very disappointed with the gameplan all around today. We should be building our offense around the 3 point shot not Around getting Deonte Burton going. Monte drive and kick to shooters not drive to try to open another driving lane for Burton in the half court.

I disagree vehemently with Prohm and anyone else that thinks we need Deonte to be successful. Our best lineup is Young or Bowie with Naz, Monte, Babb, Jackson/Thomas (because it's pretty obvious that Matt is hurting pretty bad right now). Burton needs to be the 6th man againand played based on what the other team has out there like last year.

It's funny that the same fans who couldn't get enough of Prohm's defensive coaching skills are not calling out his defensive gameplan.

Idk wtf he's been thinking the last two games. We won vs OSU but it was back to this overplaying, running around crazy, just hope for a turnover style and that continued tonight. No real tactical maneuvering at all.

I don't know. Am I the only fan who actually thinks we give great effort? Including Burton (most of the time : ). Loses focus maybe. Hard to put a finger on. I just think he's inconsistent and just doesn't play the game very smartly sometimes. I'm probably wrong here, but I just think the weaknesses we battle with our lack of size and post play require so much effort and give and take that it magnifies the losses. We've been darn good on 50-50 balls and battling even when getting hacked. But like I said, maybe I don't get the speed of the game. Hard to know when to just give the opponent credit for being better vs. saying the team lacked enough effort.

I only caught the last 10ish minutes live so not sure of the first half but Naz/Monte/Young/Babb/anyone else has looked the most fluid...pretty sure it was that way in the run to come back and beat Tech.

Also vs. TX I noticed a couple of possessions where Jackson ended up starting things with Morris essentially a 2 and good things happened. Not saying Jackson should be the 1 or something but those two seemed to compliment one another nicely.

Brought this up before but Young's footwork is slow and perhaps he's still got a long ways to go defensively, not that it mattered today.

KU hasn't been crazy scary so hopefully something is found to work and Prohm sticks with it. Sometimes it feels like he makes a substitution just to make one, without any real reason.

Just got back from the wedding. I was worried about Vlad as I thought he creates a very bad match up for us, and apparently that was true. Sucks, but with road games, you just have to steal as many as you can. This would have finished off a great week. Beating KU will get this solidly back on track, and you know the guys will be sky high for that.

Oh you didn't hear? We forfeited the rest of the season because we lost the second of a 2 game conference road trip. Seasons over no KU game this team didn't deserve it anyway.

Disappointing all around. We're a better team than TCU and it's not like they have a great home court advantage.

Win Monday, and I'll feel better about it.

Burton and Monte went 4 for 24 combined. Yikes! That's piss'n away 1/4 of the game. Not going to win with those stats.

Not sure why the Cyclones are not switching defenses more. Opponents got our number called exploit the post mismatch. I didn't get the game on cable but got real tired of listening to John Walters calling easy baskets and layups all game. With 50+ points in the paint I would have gone to zone with Young, Burton, Babb and Bowie alternating low and Naz, Monte, Jackson at guard. Why pull Jackson? He came in smoked the nets in less than 5 minutes of play. Sounded like there were zero adjustments during this game on both ends of the court. Frustrating.

So, he's a guard?
Since when is there nothing between a guard and what we call a big? He was a small forward who was forced to defend the post due to team circumstances. I suppose you would consider Hogue and Ejim 'bigs' as well?

Here nor there
You're not being serious, right? It wasn't a very close loss, the effort wasn't that good, and yes we can fault the team and the coaches for losing a game we should win. Yikes.
This wasn't a game we should win. We weren't favored. TCU's got better upside, we just play to our near best more often because of good coaching and experience

People on this site would sell their children to have a guy like Tony Rampton. It gets pretty moronic most of the time.

Lolz at all the talk earlier on this thread about competing with Kansas for title. We cant even compete with some middle of the road team.

I wont even mention West Virginia and Baylor got key road wins today.

Are U saying that you don't like Prohmball......better get used to these kinds of losses under csp
