Here's my take for what it's worth-

Defense played decent in stretches until they got tired. Most of what they gave up was against individual effort by their QB.

Offense shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. When they were moving the ball, they stopped themselves with penalties.

If the offense can play a clean game and keep the defense rested, I think we can be competitive. A lot of work to do for sure.

If that happens we can be competitive with UNI, assuming they play as bad as they did tonight.

Exact same problems that we have always seen since Tom Herman left. To much horizontal passing and running game. Not enough vertical running, not enough short slants, hitches, and other short timing routes, Not enough deep vertical passing routes. If ISU is going to use any version of the Bill Walsh West Coast offense at least use it correctly. Use the passing game to open the running game up.

This staff is laughing all the way to the bank. The PLAN and CULTURE - the plan is to fleece these rubes and the CULTURE is to swindle us out of more. Better coaching from High School - what a joke. Crapfest as I agree with clonedude - I thought Mangino was calling those plays - screens to nowhere, run game nonexistent, OL/OC guru TM putting garbage on field. Have seen this garbage since 1989 - no change in sight. Campbell talking about the "process" - the Process coach is to win the fricking game! Not treat this as a business - it is a game with high emotion - not automatons! Team looked flat and deflated most of the night. There was no energy in the crowd as the team looked so inept. Get a cranial rectal extraction coach and see what you did to the fans!

We fired rhoads for that pile of dog **** worth of coaching?

no, we fired McCarney for that. 2nd and 4 late in the game and we throw the ball? right after we got a 1st down by running it and then 6 more by running it. run the ball and use the clock, dont get greedy!!!!!! that was the game changer right there, yes Lanning threw it, but our coaches called that play. our O line is awful!!!! and bad timing on penalties or lack there of on penalties!!! I am going to burn my cyclone football shirt.

The coaching is what really bugs me. It seemed there was not plan on offense. Then there was the issue of everyone not being on the same play, more than once. Add that to the not having the right player on the field when they needed to be. All those make Chizik's first look like it was well coached.

THIS. SO MUCH.

It looked like the coaches weren't even aware they were at a game.

I hope it was nerves. And I I am sure they can't be as clueless as it appears.

The worse performance I've ever seen was 2014 game at KU. But that can't really count since the football team has to show up to actually count as a performance (to this day i contend that it was swamp gas out on the field and the way the lights hit the gas it looked like cyclone uniforms). This...this game was the second worse performance I've ever seen.

The tone of JW and Bruns after the game was very sobering. They seemed resigned and have accepted their fate that this season is going to be a long one. The players also seemed resigned as well.

I can tell you from experience that One Win Seasons are NO FUN.....Yes I do agree that Bruns got a hard sobering dose of reality watching this debacle of a team and coaching staff perform............

Not sure what everyone was expecting, we had an offensive line with no real experience, played 6 true freshman. Campbell was given a **** storm of a roster.

I liked the play calling off attaching down the field, there had to be a dozen plus passes that were 20+ yards

The freshman rb Montgomery??? Looked really good, the WRs looked good and I loved the blitzing the defense was doing.

Landing having 5 turnovers was maddening and the OL not blocking or picking up holding calls was frustrating

Overall, this team is heading the right direction, just need another year or two to add some talent. Football rebuilding is completely different than basketball and we got spoiled with Hoiberg's quick turn around.

I am afraid we wiffed on the OC hire. Hope I'm wrong but some of the play calls late in the game were bad.

I knew we wouldn't make a bowl. I wasn't that delusional.

We were bad last year and smoked these guys. I was ignorant enough to expect a win here.

Hate to be reactionary, but I would take less yards and TD passes from lanning for less dumb mistake.

I would also take our starting right tackle on a thin offensive line not being dumb and getting himself suspended.

And finally, feed the ball to our 2 good offensive players more. Just maybe not Warren in the 4th quarter....

I don't understand how you have all summer to scheme and Fall Practice to install game plan and that's the imagination we come out with.

Not good when people reporting coaches losing their composure on sidelines...against UNI. Once again the "easy part" of schedule strikes again.

All of the off-season photoshop work and twitter hashtags look even sillier when you lose to UNI. If anything, Pollard so good at pulling the fake hype card to push ticket sales. Iowans are too nice...

A solid postseason run by the Cubs should get me close to basketball season and that is all I've got at this point.

But hey, we are winning the **** out of social media...

"mildly concerned about a first-year offensive coordinator."

Mildly? This has been my biggest issue from the start! Our HC decides to give a guy who has NEVER been a OC at any level a chance to be the OC at a P5 school.
