Has hoiberg taught us nothing? Niang and Monte were not considered homeruns but they certainly developed into stars. I think its all about development with Iowa State, that and getting the right transfers.

They were 4-star, top 100 kids. Niang was ranked 69, Thomas 54th, Morris 96.

When it comes to basketball rankings, if you get out of the top 125 or so, good players are few and far between.

Exactly. I don't know what this guy classifies as "home runs" but they weren't these under the radar sleepers he makes them out to be.

I'm getting a little nervous, Monte, Matt and Georges all committed by June. Of course, none of the guys we have been after hard have committed elsewhere yet, so it's hard to tell. I wish Minnesota kids didn't have such a hard time saying no to the Gophers, lots of good talent there we've been after but most end up staying in state no matter how much Minny sucks.

Minnesotans love everything Minnesota. It is what it is.

Ya it's kind of forbidden to leave your homies if you're from Minneapolis and you have a chance to go to U of M. Only the Carleton's like Reid Travis are allowed to go to fancy pants schools and not get heat back home from it.

It doesn't seem like we have a coherent plan for recruiting.

When TJ left we replaced him with Berry and now Berry (a coastal Carolina guy) is recruiting Minnesota and Wisconsin.

We have Small recruiting the South, but in the past year he has only brought in one kid to even visit (Lard who everyone else had backed off of).

And lastly, we have Danyial Robinson for his second stop at ISU.

I'm just not sure we have enough recruiting firepower at this point. The conference has recently invested a lot of money in some big name coaches, so winning in the B12 in a couple of years may be even harder than it already is.

JFC man, you're a baby, and you cry in a really off-putting way. Berry was following TJ around for awhile and getting established to take over that territory. How dumb do you think Prohm is? I mean seriously is there anything that you don't question his intelligence or acumen on?

I'm not even a huge Prohm guy and I have questions still but seriously you're exhausting.

No to mention, these guys have to coach too, so there's that.

agclone seems pretty logical to me.

Robinson being here again is a huge joke.

Somehow Berry is supposed to go from low major assistant, to special coach of something or other, to lead recruiter.

I'm not sure what Small even does recruiting wise.

It isn't like any of these guys are up and comers, they've been around for quite sometime to prove they aren't going to recruit at a high level.

This staff keeps things quiet compared to every recruiting tidbit Matt fed Hines. Too early to panic, I think we'll get visits lined up in the next month

I'm not worried at all about coaching. I think Prohm is a good coach. I just hope he can recruit at a B12 level. That has yet to be determined but if he can't, it will be his undoing. We have a lot of big time coaches in this league, so you have to do more than be a good X's & O's guy.

I want our basketball program to succeed, hence the concern. I don't think "following TJ around for a year" is a sound plan for covering the most fertile recruiting areas that are within a realistic driving distance.

So far so good I'd say:

Really? Piggy-backing relationships and getting the lay of the land from one of the best recruiters in the nation in an area where he is somewhat dominant isn't a sound plan? What would you suggest recruiting guru?

Its not like recruiting was easy under Fred (see below). I think there are only four 4* recruits in the group. There are some ISU legends in the group, but there are a lot of busts too. Let's see what Prohm can do before we go nuts. His first real class seemed to be on par with most of Fred's classes. We need to find us a few guys like Georges, Monte, Matt, Naz, and Mel.

Georgios Tsalmpouris
Clayton Custer G
K.J. Bluford G
Daniel Edozie F
Dustin Hogue F
Monte Morris G
Matt Thomas G
Nazareth Long G
S. Dorsey-Walker
Nkereuwem Okoro
Georges Niang F
Percy Gibson F
Tavon Sledge G
Tyrus McGee G
Calvin Godfrey F
Eric McKnight F
Jordan Railey C
DeMarcus Phillips G
Melvin Ejim F

Have you called Steve and told him your concerns? I'm sure he'd really be interested to know what joe schmoe fan thinks. His past experience clearly shows he is clueless about how to run a program.
