It doesn't seem like we have a coherent plan for recruiting.

When TJ left we replaced him with Berry and now Berry (a coastal Carolina guy) is recruiting Minnesota and Wisconsin.

We have Small recruiting the South, but in the past year he has only brought in one kid to even visit (Lard who everyone else had backed off of).

And lastly, we have Danyial Robinson for his second stop at ISU.

I'm just not sure we have enough recruiting firepower at this point. The conference has recently invested a lot of money in some big name coaches, so winning in the B12 in a couple of years may be even harder than it already is.

I couldn't have said it better! I agree completely

Its not like recruiting was easy under Fred (see below). I think there are only four 4* recruits in the group. There are some ISU legends in the group, but there are a lot of busts too. Let's see what Prohm can do before we go nuts. His first real class seemed to be on par with most of Fred's classes. We need to find us a few guys like Georges, Monte, Matt, Naz, and Mel.

Georgios Tsalmpouris
Clayton Custer G
K.J. Bluford G
Daniel Edozie F
Dustin Hogue F
Monte Morris G
Matt Thomas G
Nazareth Long G
S. Dorsey-Walker
Nkereuwem Okoro
Georges Niang F
Percy Gibson F
Tavon Sledge G
Tyrus McGee G
Calvin Godfrey F
Eric McKnight F
Jordan Railey C
DeMarcus Phillips G
Melvin Ejim F
Can't really compare when Fred obviously focused on transfers as opposed to HS recruiting though.

JFC man, you're a baby, and you cry in a really off-putting way. Berry was following TJ around for awhile and getting established to take over that territory. How dumb do you think Prohm is? I mean seriously is there anything that you don't question his intelligence or acumen on?

I'm not even a huge Prohm guy and I have questions still but seriously you're exhausting.

No to mention, these guys have to coach too, so there's that.

How dumb are you mister kool aid man? Hop off your high horse. We have a bunch of assistants that came from low-major/mid-major schools that are coming to one of the best basketball conferences in the nation. These guys aren't just going to be able to pull in high major recruits all of a sudden. If you seriously think so then you are a dumba$$. There is no excuse for us to have zero commits at this point when we have SIX open scholarships for 2017. Recruits want playing time and we have ample amounts to offer and we still can't even get visits at this point. The concern is real, and I don't think it will go away anytime soon. Expect us to be in the bottom half of the conference soon and that is just being realistic.

You're way ahead of yourself man. I have my concerns just like most of everyone else but it's too early to hit the panic button. A lot of schools have zero commits right now. And kids will start cutting lists now that AAU is almost over which will then lead to visits around September - October. Most kids don't have visits set up so I'd hold up on the "can't get visits". Just be patient and wait it out before we start making judgements on our class,

I'm disappointed that the new site doesn't have a thumbs-down option. You may be right or you may be wrong but it's definitely too early to say and strange that it requires name calling.

Edit: thumbs down is an option once logged in. Kudos.

So do you think Campbell and his staff won't be able to recruit? They also came from a mid major school. Take a step back, and watch it play out.

How many high majors hired a new coach in June of 2015? Prohm's behind, that's all.

these thomas/morris/niang comparisons are not really fair -we either recruited those kids a long time or had unique connections to them. and they all blew up considerably after summer aau.

longer term that's our ideal situation - find talented kids and get a verbal before their senior aau summers. but you can't do that and get June 16 verbals when you get hired in June of 2015.

I want our basketball program to succeed, hence the concern. I don't think "following TJ around for a year" is a sound plan for covering the most fertile recruiting areas that are within a realistic driving distance.

Whew. Glad you are the only Cyclone fan that visits Cyclonefanatic that wants our basketball team to succeed. Most fans I know were completely happy with the Greg McDermott years.

People need to chill. It's only July 23 and kids can't sign their LOI until November. With the guys we are recruiting, my guess we won't get any commits until guys make campus visits during football season.

Personally, I really like the 2016 recruiting and transfer class Prohm and staff signed last fall/spring, so I am confident they will do a solid job of building our 2017/18 roster.

Can't really compare when Fred obviously focused on transfers as opposed to HS recruiting though.

I think Prohm will have to rely on some transfers/JC players too. We are not Kentucky or Duke, we can't expect to land 3 or 4 HS kids each year that are ready to start for a top 15 type team. The reality is some HS kids will be misses and we will need impact transfers/JC players to fill in where we miss with HS kids.

Recap of @JussHoopTeddy in Vegas so far:
-30 vs E1T1
-38 vs Baltimore United
-24 vs Nevada Wolverines
-38 vs Indy Hoosiers
OSA in Elite 8

@coreyevans_10: Teddy Allen is one bad dude for @OSACrusaders. Play making, point forward type. Some Georges Niang. Some monster. Major producer

@INBRecruits: 6'5" SF Teddy Allen of Boys Town HS (2017) gave defenses fits all weekend for @osacrusaders. Think G. Niang type game w/ some junkyard dog
