Ehhh...ISU had just a little success in MBB and it seems that we were content to let Eustachy's out-of-control alcoholism roll on...until the photos were about to go public.

Alcoholism is not even close to the same thing as Pedophilia! Completely different situations.

Yeah because that's on the same level as rape (Baylor) and child molestation (PSU).

Also, I am pretty sure based on various posts and actions a majority of ISU fans are alcoholics.

Pierre Pierce is a closer situation, but even that is nowhere close to this level of depravity.

Yes much closer. LE just enjoyed his drink to much. Pretty much he only was hurting himself and his family. PSU and BU are deplorable situations that no one should ever have to face. Don't get me wrong alcoholism is serious, and I get why the University did what they did, but for god sake, it is nothing like what was going on at PSU or BU. Although we did have that assistant coach that was into kiddie porn. Whatever ended up happening with that? I completely forgot about that until right now.

I can only think about the number of people that have been affected and have not spoken out. Also JoePa turning a ******* blind eye to it only empowered Sandusky. What an absolutely gross situation.

A man was destroying his life, his family, and on a path to do harm to the university, and pretty much nobody stepped in until the event was about to become public...

Yes because that is even remotely comparable to a man willingly allowing a child molester to operate unimpeded for 25 years? C'mon man...

Because by the Lord's grace LE didn't have a car wreck and kill anybody.

And the fact still stands, nobody stepped in to do anything because he was winning at basketball...

LE's alcoholism was a couple of year run at the university, it really got out of hand the last year or so. I think in that situation you typically do let that go thinking he is going through a phase, photos came out the university acted. That is not that same thing as in 1976 having sexual assault of a minor being reported to you and replying. I don't want to know about that, I have a football season to get ready for. Paterno's last season at PSU was 2011 that is 35 years after! Allegations against Sandusky came out in '08, Paterno claimed no knowledge. Paterno was complicit in the rape of minors for over 35 years! Wrap your head around that.

Also most guys I know that coach at the college level enjoy their drink, as far as I know LE never was inappropriate with anyone. Yes getting drunk with college kids isn't ideal for a guy in his position, but lets not put LE even in the same galaxy as JoePa, Sandusky and Briles.

You are judging someone by what didn't happen. Judge them by what did. LE was an alcoholic who screwed up his marriage and his chance at a high major coaching job. That is it. He didn't do anything else.

Sandusky raped kids! JoePA knew about it. Quit, they aren't even close to the same thing. Not even close. In the most basic of terms. It isn't illegal to get drunk, it is illegal to rape someone, let alone do that for 35+ years, or know that is happening and do nothing for 35+ years.

No argument here. They should be the ones to step in. The NCAA is not the appropriate punitive body for something as big as this.

I agree.

My point about lack of institutional control is that while you're 100% correct that PSU doesn't fit the NCAAs definition of lack of institutional control...it should. The NCAA affords it's members benefits so it's members should be held accountable for institutionally facilitated rape. I'm simply stating that if the NCAA told PSU, "You can't play football with our members until we're satisfied your program and AD have un-****ed themselves", I wouldn't have a problem with it. I'm disappointed in the Big Ten in this too, they could say the same thing. I think the Big 12 should be looking closely at Baylor and seriously considering if they should be participating in football right now.

But yeah, a RICO investigation is warranted, imo.

This story continues to disgust me on so many levels. On a humanity, sports and higher education level....everything is just wrong with this. There are SO many more people that knew about this that we will never hear about. I hope they can live with themselves and know they helped destroy people's lives by not talking. No excuse for any of this...just disgusting.

McQueary (guy who saw the shower incident) says that Tom Bradley and Greg Schiano knew about Sandusky. Schiano has released a statement denying it.

It can only get worse. But maybe it has to before it can get better.

I cant even imagine a single Iowa or Iowa State fan siding with a coach / administrators after something like this, or the Art Briles situation. How can people's priorities get this out of whack?

Are you sure about that. Old Kirk has had some issues over in IC and handled things in questionable ways, yet the fans and the media in this state line up to support him and tell us how great of a guy he is.

There was never any doubt in my mind that Paterno was fully aware of who Jerry Sandusky was all along. I hope he's burning in hell and Jerry will join him soon. Along with all the ped state fans in denial.

this is from the Onion several years ago:
"My examination of the available documents found that Jerry Sandusky's activities were almost certainly known to Coach Paterno, who failed to act appropriately in reporting or following up on certain incidents and who is indeed shrieking in indescribable anguish as the searing flames of hell devour his flesh for all eternity," Freeh told reporters

Imagine the Rag response if ISU had that many football players hospitalized with rhabdogate. Yet our self-reported butt dialing became "what did the Regents know and when did they know it?"

Randy Brown. Did time. Still coaches something if I remember right but said he can't be alone with his own kids to our HDFS 276 class in 2010 or so.
