Re: What do people that know him think of Coach Fen?

I've talked to the guy multiple times through Ames High stuff.

One of the nicest guys I've ever met. Sure, it may not reflect when he is coaching, but he's pretty kind and cares much more for the people around him than himself.

As someone that was unaware that ISU even had a women's basketball team but is fully aware that this is a topic that will likely come up in my daily routine sometime this week, is it fair to understand the following:

Bill Fennelly is kind of an *** and this Moody has been consistent trouble who is likely pulling the race card in a desperate chance to get a free paycheck/get back at someone she didn't like.

I second that.

That's pretty much the issue. Nailed it.

Re: What do people that know him think of Coach Fen?

I used to talk to quite a few of the Hilton staff when Eustachy was coach and they - every one of them - commented on what a night and day difference it was dealing with Larry and Bill. Larry wasn't exactly nice - I'll leave it at that. Bill's every request was proceeded by a please and followed by a thank you and he acted like you were doing him a personal favor rather than just doing your job.

I could also see how his in-game interactions with his players may be tough for some of them to handle.

Trying to continue to streamline this thread again (I should be a mod). If your contributions to this thread are either of the following three statements:

-Why didn't she transfer?
-Definition of "family environment".
-Spelling errors on the lawsuit.

No need to post. Would save us having to call the horse's parent to come identify the beaten up remains.

It's not exactly the most well-written lawsuit I've ever seen, but they certainly seem to be implying that Fennelly used his influence to get her cut. If it goes to jury, who knows what effect that will have on jurors.

That part actually is an awful part for the plaintiff to even include. She was drafted by the guy. Does she think he didn't talk to BF before drafting him? Wouldn't that indicate he helped her out there? I mean, if he thought enough of BFs opinion or of BF in general to cut her when she brought action against him, he was certainly weighing his opinion when drafting her, right?

I'd belittle and demean you, but you'd probably sue me.

What scares me is when it brought the Athletic Department into this in regards to grades. I can see the NCAA come a calling and well...... This is not good.

So she didn't play in the WNBA, cut her a check for 24,000 dollars that they get paid to play and move on.

Nicky moody isn't exactly a goody goody.

exactly. I remember her getting suspended shortly after a recruiting weekend. A couple recruits who were in Ames that weekend visited U of Iowa also and signed with Iowa

I could see Moody bashing Fennelly in front of recruits.

No matter how it turns out, this will be bad for the university. I've heard that BF is hard on ALL his players, but I'll reserve judgement until all the facts have come out in this case.

Well played! Lost a little Busch Light on that one.

My totally uniformed guess is the racial stuff is slim and it won't make it far but this will force ISU to take a hard look at how Fennelly treats his players in general. You can be a hardass without being abusive.

We (the USA) are in the biggest phase of entitlement, offended people; wussification in history.

let the lawsuits begin !!

ISU'S response. This sheds the first light.

From reading the lawsuit it is hard to see a lot of the racist things in it. If all of those things are true, I think you could say that BF is a *******, but there aren't many cases where those things that scream racist to me. Of course, I am white, so my knowledge of racism is limited at best and ignorant at worst.

What scares me is when it brought the Athletic Department into this in regards to grades.

Manipulating a choice of major is not even remotely the same as manipulating grades.

It means either steering SAs into a 'cluster' where several are in the same major, or selecting a major that has class schedules that will fit around an established practice/travel schedule.
