Other than the two insiders in this thread, who are giving us some insight into Jameel's thought process, the rest of us are making wild guesses.

Here's my internet psychologist theory.

Jameel has been struggling more and more to accept that the NBA is not going to happen. He has spoken candidly about his NBA goals, and has clearly worked extremely hard towards trying to achieve that goal over the last few years.

However, this season it became increasingly obvious that he's not going to the NBA. What he hoped would have been a season where he lessened his weaknesses, he has only lessened his strengths. And his weaknesses have remained.

As the season has progressed, he's realized that he is running out of time, and this has led to a lot of desperation, frustration, and disappointment. The fans have been blamed. The city has been blamed. The coaches have been blamed.

I'm still hoping he can fix things this season, and be the player he was last year. Unrealistic, I know.

Re: McKay not traveling to OSU?

I feel bad for Niang. Supposed to be his big year going out with his best friend who ends up getting hurt and now this. And he handled the transition from Fred so well

Look, I will NEVER under appreciate what Georges does and has done for this team. And, he will go down as one of my favorite Cyclones of all time. The "Holberg Hangover" is not anybody's fault, especially not Prohm. But how do we know that Georges has handled that transition well. Of course, I think he has. So do most of us fans. But how do we really know? Maybe Prohm bounced so much stuff off of him that other players resented that. I would hope to heck not. All I'm saying is, I have no clue what the heck to think about this team, and especially McKay. Do any of us know a darn thing, really?? Sad.

My biggest concern with the guys on the trip now would be now Morris plays. Him and Showtime were pretty tight.

We have two things working for us with Morris:

1. He has a career to think about

2. He doesn't seem crazy

Friends don't always think exactly like one another.

This is all confusing. Met him last year on my son's campus visit. He was humble, personable and let us take a picture with him. Seemed like a great young man and ambassador for ISU. He was the highlight of my son's visit.
None of this means he isn't still those things. He's got some issues to work through obviously, nobody knows what's going on in McKay's head though.

This seems very plausible. Jameel was a beast last year but this year he looks more tense and complains when things don't go his way. His thought process is definitely different this year and I think your explanation perfectly explains it.

Do any of our insiders know how many games "indefinitely" means?

Not an insider, but 'suspended indefinitely' always seems to freak people out and sound like the end of the world, and then not always be such a big deal. Yes, sometimes it does mean 'he gone', but sometimes it seems like it's a bump and done.

1000% speculation here, but I wonder if he got suspended, reacted poorly, and it's now up to him. Might be back the next game if he gets his mind right, might be gone if not.

Jameel will always be a victim in his own mind...nothing will ever be his fault, and people that hold him responsible will always be 'out to get him'.

What a diva.

So what exactly happened to bring the suspension on? Can anyone summarize the previous 16 pages?
