Re: McKay not traveling to OSU?

So we have a Chicago Bulls player complaining that Fred needs to get tougher. And we have a cyclone player, who from the insiders' posts here, seems to indicate that Prohm needs to get softer like Fred.

Each guy has his own needs. That again is part of the art of coaching. Some thrive on corrective feedback (yelling, pointing out errors, etc...). Others need the pat on the back and pointing out of things they are doing well. It's not a one-size fit all approach towards coaching athletes.

If a coach can't change his approach, then he needs to recruit players that fit his approach. I think Fred did this. He found other guys with chips on their shoulders that needed someone to listen and mentor. Huggins will recruit guys that can take the emotional punishment and harness it into the style of ball they put on the floor. Someone else pointed out Izzo in this thread. Isn't it funny that Fred took in two of Izzo's guys and they were very effective for us?

This is the least surprising news ever. I said after the KU game his knee was not the problem. The stupid snapchat post, his interview after that game, etc. I'm surprised he didn't get suspended after that game

And people on here ripped on me for suggesting McKay had an issue during the KU game.. His attitude was a cancer to our team and basically ruined his shot at playing at the next level. He will look back at this and realize how big of a mistake he made by being a big baby this entire season.

Re: McKay not traveling to OSU?

I think I would be in his corner more if he wasn't such a cryptic guy. If he just came out this season and said how he's doing I think he'd be in a better spot.
I'm sure an injury hasn't helped but earlier this week he said he was 85%
Feel bad for his teammates more so than me.

I feel bad for Niang. Supposed to be his big year going out with his best friend who ends up getting hurt and now this. And he handled the transition from Fred so well

His shot is not ruined. People said the same about BDJ.

It's not like this is a new thing. This is who he has been since Fred left.

I'll go out on a limb and say we will play better tomorrow without him.

One thing I know for sure is that he will grab as many defensive rebounds as he did against WV.

BDJ? Holberg success story? Kinda sounds like you're bashing CSP.

Re: McKay not traveling to OSU?

Prohm has said recently how Jameel playing at a high level is important to our success. (or something like that) I guess I just don't sense Prohm isn't giving him good vibes about his value to the team. Also, interesting that an instagram picture was posted showing guys having fun on the plane. (of course, life goes on, not like I expected them to be moping in a picture). Until we hear why, I guess we shouldn't jump to conclusions. It could be as simple as not attending class or taking care of his academics (just an example). But, yes, considering the roller coaster season, its hard not to let one's mind wander.....and all I keep thinking about and coming back to is the first few tweets after the first loss of the Europe trip. Still bother me to this day.
