Here's what I don't get about people on Twitter.

If you make this comment at the water cooler, or to the barstool next to you...whatever it's just a couple people shooting the ****.

On Twitter...especially when you tag the person you're talking about...it's like standing on JPs lawn with a bullhorn talking about how you think he's bad at his job. What do you think is going to happen?

It is like putting on a big billboard. Social media is like that and so many people forget it's not like a private email.

Quite simple. Dont include Jamie in your original tweet being critical of the hire and he doesnt respond when you flip flop a day later.

HE DIDNT!!!

The guy responded to a question about what people thought about Campbell. Someone then responded to him and included Jamie in the response. The guy then responded back to everyone who had been included in the conversation (this is what happens on Twitter when you respond). He never directly went after Pollard.

1) As AD of a P5 school, Pollard will see plenty of criticism launched his way via Twitter, email, etc... Best to ignore it as it comes with the territory. IMHO, he looks very childish and unprofessional reacting like this. Others think this is ok, and to each their own.
2) I love how somebody's opinion of the hire can change after an introductory press conference. The success of this hire will be measured in 3-4 years. It's easy to SAY the right things, much harder to DO the right things that result in the main tangible way to measure success which is wins.

Looking forward to the Prohm and Campbell eras at ISU!!

Exactly...why I don't like twitter for this reason. If you'd walk up to JP and say this publically (say as an open question at a public event), then fine. Otherwise, don't tag him in the tweet.

How was the guy being a DB?

On Saturday afternoon/evening, he said he wasn't impressed with Campbell, he wanted a splash hire, and this should be Pollards last chance at getting it right.

Then this morning, he said he is impressed with what he has seen of Campbell so far and is on board with the hire.

Please show me where he was a DB?

He's tweeting someone criticizing who they hired and then 2 days later saying he's impressed with the hire. How is that not being a DB? How about instead of tweeting your displeasure about not getting a splash hire for everyone to see you wait until you hear MC speak at the press conference then make your decision and tweet. Unfortunately most people need to post every emotion/thought they have for everyone in the Twitter universe to see like they are important or something.

There are a lot of DB ISU fans then, because I know quite a few who were not initially impressed with the hire, and bought in after the presser.

True...but you have to know who is seeing it. If I emailed someone and they replied and included my boss' boss, I may not hit reply all. I know, not the same, but again, why twitter stinks as it causes a lot of unnessary drama for a variety of people and I believe (in other situations) enables keyboard jockeys and hateful/harassing behaviors.

This guy did send a tweet with Pollard tagged basically saying that he should be fired if this doesn't work out. JP should have thicker skin, but this guy is far from innocent and that's a pretty douchey thing to do.

It's an authoritative position. Can you imagine if the president started responding to people via twitter? You be professional and let it go. Don't feed the trolls.

I dont see any way this guy was hateful or harassing. All he did was say he was not impressed with the hire and this should be JP's last chance at getting it right. Thats the truth, and it does not include any hateful words or derogatory remarks. JP's response is by far the most hateful thing in this whole "conversation"

Reply all is the best way to get fired. Never know who misconstrues things or hits the wonderful Blind carbon copy.

He's not a DB because he changed his position on the hiring. He's a DB because he feels the need to complain about not getting the hire he wanted and saying that the AD's job is in jeopardy for the world to see. As if he knows anything about what Leath judges JP on.

I totally get where he is coming from with this. But in all honesty, it was pretty dumb. If it was a twitter troll, then maybe I would give him the OK. But he basically calls out a donor. Do research before bashing someone who's donations, getting/keeping donations are a big part of your job. Can't just be firing shots whenever at anyone on twitter, when you're in the AD position.

first off jamie is a total d-bag for calling out fans for being skeptical. Just blindly buying in to any new hire is a bad idea, which is clearly the only thing jamie supports. Is it so wrong to be skeptical and wait till we actually play a freaking game before we decide if we are going in the right direction. that being said, stop documenting everything on the internet. Both fans and AD

Meh, Pollard probably should've just retweeted both of his comments with a sarcastic "Appreciate your support!", but don't blame the guy for mocking someone that was discussing how Pollard should be fired
Blast those naysayers, JP.

He said if he had his way, it would be JP's last chance at getting it right. Never once stated for fact that JP's job was in jeopardy. Its a fan giving an opinion. WATCH OUT!

I thought Twitter was just for following old pro wrestlers like the Iron Sheik and the occasional adult film star.

....huh.
