if it has gotten mainstream play (that you know of) it is not eligible. what you got?

Night and day by the moondoggies. it starts a little slow but builds up. best juke box song ever because it sounds like 2-3 different songs and is long so you actually get you money's worth. everyone always seems to dig it when i play it.

Time for some way old school. Herb Alpert was a good decade+ ahead of his time, and was making music videos well before it became popular to do so. The following is from his 1968 NBC TV special, which was comprised of music videos. He set an original Tijuana Brass tune Slick to a series of high school athletic activities as a tribute to his high school. It's probably my favorite TJB tune, but it was never one of his hits. If you played in a jazz band, you might have played this.

It was probably pretty cool for the high school kids, and it's an interesting look at the late 1960's. Herb nearly gets his head taken off at 1:46. The video won't embed, but you can watch it on vimeo.

Israel Nash-Rain Plans. Reminds me of Cowgirl in the Sand era Neil Young.

This should be in the Obscure Song Hall of Fame (and sounds way ahead of it's time in some respects — released in 1972).

It has over 3 million views on YouTube as well as being a pretty big hit at the time of its release. I dunno if I'd call it obscure. It was big around the net a couple years ago as "what english sounds like to non english speakers" or something like that.
