vs Colorado 2007. Last home game of the season

ISU picked up 3rd win of the season under Chiz. Very strange end to the game. CU kicker made a FG but it was called back for delay of game at end of regulation. They got another shot, made it again, but they decided time had expired because they took too long to snap it

Big time 2nd half comeback...field got rushed. I gave Blythe a pat on the shoulder pad. Still think it's funny how the field got rushed for a 3 win season

Had to look it up for details..http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?id=273140066

That game was my first too.

Missouri @ Iowa St 1985. My memory is Alex Espinoza hit about 10 receivers right in the numbers only to have them drop the ball. ISU got down early and made it close at the end before losing. There was maybe 20k in the stands that day. No real tailgating. Totally different world on game day now.

Nebraska 2001.

Eric Crouch's Heisman year.

Nebraska alot. ISU very little.

Taught me to hate Nebraska though so it was a success.

ISU vs Pacific in 1979, Pacific kicked ISU's tail.. 24-7... It was ugly

A lot of candidates but maybe the most deflating loss in ISU history.

The team was supposed to be good (not true) and laid a gigantic egg.

Pete could hardly get the words out of his mouth (hard to with the gag reflex and all).

'97 against Colorado. Lost, I believe.

But there was some promo where they assembled a bunch of small town high school marching bands, so we got to play on the field, at halftime, I think. Played the fight song and the Bells.

I really don't remember the particulars, but I was jazzed to go as I was an avid ISU fan already

Let's see if I can do this all off of memory...

October of 2001. KSU @ ISU. Dad and I decided to drive down at the last second to see my brother and go to the game. We didn't really know too many players so we stopped at a gas station to get some food and a newspaper. As dad drove, he instructed me to learn as many players as I could so we didn't sound like idiots when conversing with other fans. I distinctly remember learning "Willie Jud", I think a defensive tackle. Random, yes, I know.

We scalped tickets and sat right smack dab in the middle of the KSU section. Before the game, the PA announcer kindly asked "every to please stand and that gentlemen remove their hats...." (Everyone stands up and the KSU fans place their hands over their chests)..."For the singing of the Iowa State fight song!" All the KSU fans do a quick look at each other and promptly sit down. One guy ahead of us nudged his buddy and said something along the lines of "they got us pretty good" and they both laughed about it.

The game was...ugly. I think it was 42-3. I remember Aaron Lockett (I think) returning punts for KSU. I don't remember much else, other than they botched a snap on a field goal and sent the ball halfway across the field.

Naturally I could remember all this (and a few more details I left out) but I couldn't remember chemistry to save my life in college.

1989 ISU vs. iowa at JTS. ISU was up at half time I believe, than lost 31-21. First time ever on campus. I remember the lots had radio stations set up with free tailgate type food. I was on a first date with a nice ISU alum who would become my wife. We met a friend of hers in Hilton and watched the basketball team play pick up and the friend gave us a pass to get in; must have been a hillside or something as we had no seats.

The first ISU football game I attended was in 1971 against Oklahoma State, which we won 54-0. It was 24-0 at the end of the first quarter.

I figured this is what ISU football is all about (blowout wins by ISU). I was just a little bit off in my expectations.

And the game started with a 49-yard TD pass from Dean Carlson to Ike Harrison Iowa State's first offensive play of the day. We were in the south end zone with a perfect view of the play developing and the TD in that end zone. Th weather was perfect and it was great day to be a cyclone!

I think this must have been mine, too, because I remember going to a game against Colorado in 5th grade, which would have been 1995, with a friend and his grandpa. I didn't care about football at that point, so I don't remember much, other than ISU had a lead that they gave up. The article says it was a blustery day, but I remember it being sunny.

First game I do remember watching in person, when I cared about football, was ISU 37, UNLV 22 in 2000. Lane Danielsen as a freshman recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown.

I remember it as sunny that day too, but the wind could have still been a factor.

My freshman year. Remember sitting in the stands with friends asking WTF just happened. I think Pacific dropped football a few short years after that.

First game was Nov. 1976. ISU 37, Nebraska 28. One of the best atmospheres at any sporting event I have ever attended. First of two in a row that Earle took from Nebraska.
