I also thought it was interesting and telling how TJ jumped back in and threw out about 5-6 recruiting offers for 16-18 immediately, all while Fred was still in the hospital or recovering....really clears that up too

It also makes a little more sense why we basically stopped recruiting any three or four star, four year type guys for the last two years now. If Fred knew he was gone either this year or next, it makes sense that he wasn't interested in bringing in guys who would take a year or two to develop.

Get ready for the local media to show a whole lot of Otz love to win the fan base over, and in case no one noticed it started today. Unfortunately, not many will see right through it.

Yep, and its continuing in this thread by attempting to quiet our calls for hornacek...even though there have been several quotes from the man's own mouth implying that he would listen to an offer.

I would bet Fred ultimately turned the Magic job down or at least excused himself from consideration after talks, but did want to explore it as the Bulls scenario dragged on...

Maybe it was his fall back if the Bulls thing fell through. The timing says that could be the case.

Well, if this I s the case, it pretty much confirms what a few of us thought when Matt A left and TJ was brought back.....most likely JP expected this to happen and did let TJ know he would be either the guy in waiting or have a legitimate chance to lead the program.......and the Romar statement is what many of us thought......

Because I think the one thing this fan base needs right now is a bunch of "I told you so posts. "

Actually, no I think that is the last thing this fan base needs.

Ok, I'm more and more convinced about Fred leaving and the possibility of TJ being hired every day now, but seriously, he was hired on and this was his job. It's not like Fred was going to be recruiting during heart surgery or recovery. TJ was doing his job. This doesn't clear up anything.

You are Mr connect the dots, and yet you don't connect the ones that have the Magic hiring their coach very soon after the Bulls job opens up for Fred to take? Don't get me wrong, I don't really buy that, but I figured you would be all over it. I wouldn't be surprised if you somehow connected the sun rising tomorrow to Fred leaving ISU.

He may, but he may also be working on a better deal where he is.

I don't buy the information "Hoiberg's camp" is throwing out there. I think its a sad attempt to save some integrity for Fred. The Bulls have known Fred would be their guy for some time now.

Whatever man....I bet if I go back and check the Romar thread where I spelled out all this crap happening, I will find you stating "there is No way Fred leaves next year"..... You don't think the Bulls got word Fred had spoken to the Magic and were in contact with him in some regard? Come on....

Any of you who think local media or CF or CW have an agenda of using some sort of propaganda to persuade us into the thought of hiring Otz are absolutely ******* pathetic!! Please! Thier career is to report what they find. They are not on the ISU perception payroll. Many of us (not me) were ******** at the same people for even mentioning the POSSIBILITY of Fred to the nba just a couple weeks ago.

It's embarrassing as a fanbase. We're all on the same team here..

If you are one of the people ******** at CW for no actual reason gtfoh! Get off their site.
And at this point, to me, it's not even REMOTELY funny to joke about it. They work very hard for us and take their jobs very seriously. Not to mention they've obviously made it clear they don't think it's funny either.

Situation sucks for everyone but don't bite the hand that feeds you... Go state!

Most recruiters scout and than work with the HC to determine who to make offers to ( at least that is how it works in several schools where I have friends involved, as well as my experience working with the program at my old school)....it's clear though that with Fred not willing to commit to recruits in his involve the with the program even next year, TJ has been given the authority to extend offers solely at his discretion....

If Otz is the guy it is disappointing he didn't go after any UW transfers.
I agree with you there, but someone stated he was not comfortable doing that out of his relationship with Romar.....but who knows if that is true.....on the flip side, .For those who bashed Matt A for taking Williams and going hard at Diallo for SJ, what could Fred say after he told them he would not promise at being at ISU.

I'm not saying I don't think TJ should get the job, but are we just supposed to sweep it under the rug that he leaked something to Romar and then spun to the fan base that Romar was "talking about him wanting to return home and work with a team rated in the top 10, that's all". But, I guess this whole thing has had to have multiple spins by multiple people. Gosh. We must encourage and embrace our players, and that just might mean for some of us to spin ourselves....as in having complete confidence and excitement in our next hire.
