Stealing this one from a radio show. What are your best (or worst) road rage stories?

Mine is fairly mild, but it happens often. I drive along a road every morning to go to work that is notorious for people pulling out in front of you. Usually, they'll just get tailgates with my high beam lights in the driver side mirror just to make sure they see me.

The only one that I can think of was driving on Highway 92 around Greenfield I think. I was following a guy going about 10 miles below the speed limit, and I was just biding my time until we got out of town so that I could pass, and he started locking up his brakes. I wasn't following very close, so I just stopped behind him. The third time he did it, he jumps out of his car and yells something at me. I got out of my car and asked him what the hell that was. Then he said "I'm too old for this ****" and took off like a bat out of hell. Must have been having a really bad day.

Driving thru Cedar Rapids on I380 one night, traffic was pretty sparse, but 2 cars were literally ramming into each other. I'm just cruising down the road when the first car passes me, and all of a sudden the second car comes up and hits the back of the first car. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. They were going 70+ and kept swerving into each other up ahead of me. What ever happened, they were seriously ****** at each other.

Worst personally was in Phoenix, stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, I had a guy scream at me that he was going to let his dog attack me for not letting him cut in front of me. He says this while we are stopped in traffic on the highway.

Someone passed me on the right shoulder on I-35 going about 75 or 80 just north of Ankeny. I was in the right lane and there were some cars in the left lane.

I've had it happen several times when someone is signalling to merge and I give them some space. They just don't do anything so I assume they left their blinker on or are yakking on the phone. I just speed up again and that's when they decide to merge and get ******. People can be dumb.

Went to the cities this past weekend....driving a truck + having my wife blare the radio because "she just loves this song" while I'm trying to listen to my phone for the next exit I need = recipe for disaster.

I apologize for everyone I cut off on I-94 last weekend....and the dirty looks I got are warranted.

Most of my issues involve Semis or Construction trucks.

One time a Semi was cruising at 65mph in the passing lane on 35. I couldn't get around for miles as there was another car in the right lane also doing 65mph. The car in the right lane finally took an exit ramp and I was so mad at the time I gave the semi time to come back over to the right lane. He had plenty of room, nothing in the blind spot.

He was determined to stay in that lane. So, I finally passed on the right lane, then got back in the left lane ahead of him and gradually slowed down. I was going around 55 mph and he stayed in that lane. There was no other traffic around at this time. I ended up rolling my window down and signaling for him to get over, he finally did.

Way up there
This was quite a ways back but while cruising in a neighboring town in high school, some nut job, cracked out girl mistook the car I was driving (a Chevy Lumina) for the car that had cut her off (Chevy Monte Carlo) bc they looked almost identical from the front (and she was cracked out). I didn't know any of this was going on, she was apparently following me and when I stopped at a stop sign, she got out of her car, ran up to my car and bashed out the rear drivers side window with a baseball bat. The glass crashing was the first time I knew any of this was going on, fortunately a police officer was waiting at the same intersection I was stopped at and he caught her red handed.

I've seen somebody pull up beside somebody and throw a water bottle at their windshield and then drive off.

I was tailgating a guy one time because he was driving 20 in a 30 so he lit up a cigar and started going to town on it and blowing all the smoke out his window so it blew right into my car and window. It actually smelled good, so it didn't make me mad. After a couple miles he turned off and flipped me off and I smiled and waved.

Had a guy cut me off, so I rode up on him. We ended up side by side at a stop light and exchanged a couple words. It was funny and I got that one on video.

My boss said he threw an entire container of peanuts at a car for cutting him off.

Its uncommon if I go an entire day without using my horn at least once. I love honking and abuse my horn to the fullest. Of course everybody else does too in Chicago.

I had a semi try to run me off the road between Ames and Ankeny once because I flipped him off because he cut me off. Scariest 20 minutes of my driving career.

Thought of another one. Followed a semi for about three miles going about 45 on a rural highway, and finally found a place to pass, and he sped up to about 70 and tailgated me for about a mile. So I let off the gas at the bottom of the next big hill, slowed to a stop and then left his dumb as trying to climb that hill from a dead stop. Pretty sure he was mad about that, but I'm thinking he deserved it.

I was 17ish and I was pretty close to this car because it was rush hour and they were going ungodly slow in the far left lane. Anyway, I think they could see me yelling at them from my truck because they pulled over to the next lane and when I was passing them, they hit me into a wall and sped off. I flipped and totaled my truck the day after I had just redid the entire brake system, new muffler, and new spark plugs. I was ****** but unharmed.

I had most of the license plate remembered but there was another car that saw the whole thing and called it in. She got 9 months and lost her license for 5 years. It was her third hit and run with 5 previous DUIs.

My wife and I were driving down our street (residential 25 mph). Some old guy didn't think the speed limit applied to him and passes me (I did speed up and not let him pass me, until we were coming to a T intersection and was afraid of a car turning on the the street and killing the guy). After I let him pass me I am pretty ****** because there are a lot of kids in the area, so I got out of my car and grabbed a golf club out of the back of my car. By the time he sees me, he takes off. So i get back in the car and follow him as he is speeding through town. He finally flies into his driveway and the garage door is going down before his car is in. Pretty sure he had to clean out his shorts at the end.

That was probably the most ****** i have been in the car.

Early 1990s...before road rage became fashionable...

Driving easbound on I-90 in southern MN heading back to Ames. I'm pretty much the only one on the road. I check my rear view mirror and see a car way back in the distance, and a semi behind that car.

Some moments later, I check the mirror again, and said car and semi are right on my bumper. I expect impact, and I floor the accelerator hoping to make a little gap. The car somehow gets into the passing lane, and the semi follows. The semi is basically pushing the car. I slow way down to let them get by. As soon as the car clears me, it moves back into the right lane. The semi, beside the car, also tries to move over and forces the car onto the shoulder. The car lays on the brakes and the semi flies by. The car then takes off.

We are coming up on an exit with a truck stop. In the mean time, two other semis fly by me and are now right on the tail of the first semi. They all three take the upcoming exit.

It was all kind of surreal, and brings to mind the classic early 1970's movie "Duel"...

A guy I used to work with said he once threw what was the equivalent of a big gulp through another cars open window once. His lane was ending in a concrete barrier and the car next to him would not let him over. Speeding up or slowing down so he was stuck in the lane.

This is basically the story I just posted if I was the car that passed you.

Got stuck behind a guy doing 55 in the left lane on 35 by Ankeny during rush hour, no way to get around him until almostly completely out of Ankeny when I was able to pass him on the right, of course he was on his phone so I got in front of him and slowed down to 45 and flipped him off for a solid mile, he didn't try to retaliate or pass me it was like he was oblivious to the world outside of his conversation.
