Anyone else notice that Barnes stuck around and waited for our players to celebrate and shake there hands? Classy move by Rick.

Say what you want about his coaching, but the dude is a classy guy.

I like Barnes, I think UT should give him a lifetime contract.

Give him $100K bonus everytime he waits for a team to stop celebrating to shake their hands

I did see this though and thought the same thing. He could have just gone to the locker room after shacking Fred's hand.

I really like Rick Barnes as a person. It is too bad he struggles from a coaching perspective because he is an easy guy to get behind if he sees success. All said and done, we've got a lot of great classy coaches in the Big 12 and that is something to be proud of. Heck, even Bill Self is always very classy in his press conferences regardless of how we see him act on the court.

Rick has always been very complimentary of ISU program, fans, and Hilton. I'm sure he wonders why he can't get that kind of fan support in TX. Even when they are highly ranked their fan support is mediocre.

A good friend of mine is a Jayhawk fan and his daughter married a guy who was a UT grad, as well his dad. The Jawhawk Dad had pictures of the day he spent with Bill Self and would use to tease his future father-in-law.

Not to be out done at the wedding, UT dad wrote Barnes a letter explaining his situation and wanted to know if he could get some UT memorabilia to defuse the Jayhawk Dad at the rehearsal dinner.

Barnes went above and beyond by inviting UT Dad to an afternoon of practice and got a bunch of personal picture with Barnes and his staff. The pictures at rehearsal dinner were the funniest and most entertaining part of the night:)

Agree, he is a class act, can't remember him ever embarassing the university or going Bobby Knight on anybody.

That said, he always seems to come up short of expectations.

Is he Dr Tom Davis?

I also heard on an Omaha sports talk station this morning that Barnes was upset
About playing a tournament game where other teams have a home court advantage.
Yes, Kansas and us will fill up the sprint center.I know Texas runs the big 12 but I cant
See Barnes having the clout to get the tourney moved back to Okla city or dallas.

He might do well to find himself a good assistant coach to help with some of the Xs and Os stuff. Obviously he can recruit - his teams are almost always loaded - but he really struggles with game management.

So the best plan then is to move the tourney to Dallas where nobody goes? Sounds like a good answer to me. If that is true, then the same exact argument could be made on the football side being held in Dallas. Overall, I'm perfectly okay ceding the South the football championship game as long as we keep the Big 12 tourney in KC.

It would be a shame if they moved the tourney away from the only 2 fanbases that care about the tourney (ISU and KSU, KU doesn't care about it, remember?)

The Texas fans would not show up anyway because most are still evaluating the February football signee bios.

He's a class act.

He was also telling his guys to hurry with 9 seconds left on the clock so I would blame him more than felix for the mistake.

It's so irritating to me that people think it's a good idea to move the tournament away from KC. Watch any XII game during the season and the only fan bases that fill their arenas game in and out are ISU, KSU and KU. The southern schools can't even fill half of their arena when even KU comes to town. Until they prove they deserve a consideration, it doesn't belong anywhere else.

Rick Barnes of recent has been a coach that I really respect. Not sure how many of you realize this, but Rick use to be a bit of a dirty coach when it came to recruiting. Not that long ago, he "found God" and really changed how he "ran his life", including how he coached. Since that time he was been a coach that I really respect and root for.
