Dave Z does a great impression, but it was obviously Dave. The only reason I knew it was not Rima is because Heather asked him to do an impression a few weeks ago, and it was very lack luster.

Damn now I feel like a fool. OK it was funny instead of sad now. Props to Dave Z and Ross/CW/Downs for that.

Rima again says he thinks UNI would win @ KU and @ OU because he's "a homer" and believes UNI "would win any game, anywhere."

Kind of makes it pointless to ever ask him to be on a radio show to talk about upcoming games. CW says all the time when he can see a possible ISU "L" coming, even Jon Miller does sometimes.

Color me unimpressed by a broadcaster who thinks the team he covers would win any game.

Couldn't agree more. I have less respect for this guy because of it.

"They will fold up like a cheap tent the minute they run into a UNI, Kentucky, WSU, or Virginia type team in the tourney. The minute a team punches them in the mouth by playing team defense, they are done. They were driving at will on OK and getting open 3s and still got down 20. UNI is built to beat ISU and will if we get our shot in March."

at this point, its byond the Kook-Aid, even Iowa fans don't act this way, they know their limitation. UNI fans just think their team is the second coming of ******. I can't take a team seriously if they think they can beat anybody while playing teams like Drake (the team that ISU beat with our bench players for most of the second half).

UNI fans are annoying. The first thing is that they don't really support their team. A large number of them are Iowa fans first and then UNI fans when it is convenient. This year it is convenient for them to be fans. The second thing is that they are stupid. I had one UNI/Iowa fan tell me 3 days before the Wichita State game that ESPN Gameday was going to come to the Cedar Falls and wasn't that great it was going to come to Iowa twice in one season. And that it hadn't been announced yet. This person actually thought that it wouldn't be public that a big TV show was coming to UNI. Of course all it took was a quick google search to determine that it was going to Virginia that week. Waterloo/Cedar Falls are major cities in this state and Cedar Rapids isn't far away. But UNI struggles to fill up the 7000 seat arena they play in. UNI students get FREE tickets to UNI basketball games and they show up worse than Iowa State students.

Gary Rima is the exact type of person I'd love if I was a UNI fan. But I mostly find him annoying.

For a while there I was kinda jumping on the UNI bandwagon. It's a good story for the state of Iowa. There are a ton of homegrown Iowa kids on that team, and several from the CR/IC area. And I like their head coach too.

However, I'm done now. I hope they lose in the 1st round. I also hope Wichita State smokes them in their 2nd meeting. I still like the team and coaches, but their fans and their media people have done it for me.

At this point I hope we do meet them in the tourney so we can smoke them by 20. One could argue they haven't beaten ANYONE. Wichita State and Iowa are there only 2 wins against a team with a pulse, and Wichita State is not very good.... and we know how bad Iowa is, especially early in the year when ISU and UNI played them.

The MVC is still a complete joke. Nothing against Daniel Stensland for ISU, but that's the kind of player that you're going up against night in and night out in the MVC.

This is 100% true. Their own fans even complain about this. It is really pathetic.

The MVC was an average mid-major league when Creighton was in it. Them leaving didn't make it any better.

I hate talking about UNI on here, but I have to call this guy out. Gary Rima, the voice of the UNI Panthers (KABOOM) tweeted that UNI would have won @KU and @OU. They're drinking the koolaid after beating all those top 200 RPI teams.

I don't know anything about this guy other than he's a joke.

I don't think Division 3 schools (jimlad) should be allowed in the top 25. Once you get there after having 1 decent win, against a bad Iowa team, it's easy to keep moving up because you're playing crap teams. Next thing you know you have a fraud of a team in the top 10 because they just beat Illinois State. Please.

End the series, unless UNI wants to play at Hilton.

Rima is just trying to pump up UNI fans. UNI couldn't even win @ Evansville. All he sees is MVC basketball. He has no idea.

Warning!!! Do not open this thread unless you want to read how UNI and Wichita State are on the same level as Kentucky and UVA.

It's stone cold stupid in there. If their team is 1% as overconfident as it's fans you've got your easy first round upset pick.

I have nothing against UNI, but their fans know how to get arrogant fast. I really liked NC Central from last March and their coach. If UNI wins out and gets a 3, I hope NC Central gets the 14 and knocks them off.

I laughed through page 7. That's enough entertainment for one sitting, I'll save another page for the next.

My sister is a UNI grad and she is one of a few good fans. She cheers for UNI over Iowa State. She's annoying about it to the point of us not being able to talk sports though :)

But since my parents live near Waterloo, they've had UNI season tickets since the new arena opened. Attendance has been bad for years. Even this year, it was bad until the Wichita State game and that was a sell out because there were quite a few WSU fans there.

UNI fans (i.e. Gary Rima, etc) smell blood in the water though. They are much happier to be ahead of us than they would be to be ahead of Iowa.

Mid major teams often need a chip on their shoulder to level the talent differential they typically see in the second, if not first, round. Best thing for UNI's team would be to cut any connection with its fans and media who have already crowned them as champions of the universe and Kentucky's peer.

I'm looking forward to playing their superior coach and superior program at a neutral site next year. After reading that board I hope ISU can keep within 40.

Who returns next year for them?
