I like it. Bringing in the Ohio region would be good, and Memphis has a B12 feeling to them. Can you imagine?

B12 North- Iowa State, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Kansas, Kansas State, Memphis
B12 South- Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State

YES please.

PS, People hating on Memphis, what does ISU bring that Memphis doesnt? Memphis just won their football conference this year, and besides a down year this year, they are usually really solid at basketball.

Couldnt agree more. Easy drive. Beale St. Great city. I would make many-a-trip down there.

How is that spectacularly ugly? It's actually a pretty cool stadium in my opinion. Not to mention the natural views from that campus.

In the eye of the beholder, no doubt. I have lived in Ft. Collins, cool place. But that stadium. . . .

I have been asking this same question... Other than being an AAU school and recently being good at basketball, what does ISU bring to the Big 12?

we should be accepting of other schools and be happy that we are not in their position trying to get into a Power 5 conference because ISU probably wouldn't even be mentioned as an addition if the roles were reversed.

Well, ISU is one of the founding schools of the Big Six, and helped by fully participating in the Big 8 and Big XII conferences from their inception until present. That does (and should) count for something. All things are not equal when comparing these other schools as potential members to ISU.

The Big 8

Oklahoma
Nebraska
Kansas State
Colorado
Iowa State
Missouri
Kansas
Oklahoma State

Would be able to to easily attend all road games. Built in rivalries across the board. Several big name programs. Great conference for football and basketball. Would allow iowa state to schedule 5 non conference games (iowa, uni/fcs, MAC, destination home and home series, a cupcake).

Yup that settles it, we'll expand. Selection committee obviously doesn't care too much about the quality of those conference opponents anyway, as long as we have a championship game.

Don't eat up the bs being fed. Having a conference title game would not change a thing- it is just a convenient distraction. Like telling the 250lb woman at the bar that you would love to go back to her place, but have to work early the next morning. This is a popularity contest. Same reason why K-State got the shaft a few years ago and why the BIG benefited for years from not having a title game. The real issues are the Big 12 is not respected on the whole, and it was Baylor and TCU instead of OU and UT.

You know who would love to force the Big 12 expand? The Pac-12, SEC, and BIG. Either it means the Big 12's payout/team drops and thus ultimately leads to the liquidation of the Big 12, or it starts the liquidation of the ACC.

I haven't paid much attention to this thread other than the few random posts I've made.

I'd give anything to go to Beale Street once every other year and party it up with Iowa State football being the reason I'm there.

I'd like Memphis a lot. Once they'd be able to say their basketball program is a part of the Big 12, that will improve. And they definitely have an amazing city and fan base, so I think eventually they could be an alright football program.

Which is why I'm in favor of the big "**** YOU PAC 12, SEC, AND BIG 10" that is the mega-merger of the ACC and Big 12.

Agree. A Big 12 championship game wouldn't have mattered one bit. It would have meant that Baylor would have played KSU again. Big deal. They wanted Ohio State in, that's the truth.

I'm convinced now that we should just make a mega merger with the ACC. The other conferences want to liquidate both the Big 12 and the ACC, so why not just combine and make the best conference by FAR and screw everyone.

The way I look at it football wise (not thinking financially)

TCU = A&M - Typically a very good team
West Virginia = Nebraska - Has their good years and has their bad years
Cincy = Missouri - You never know what team you're getting the next year
Memphis = Colorado - Programs that don't have too much going for them

I'd take Memphis over Colorado in a trade any day.

I wouldn't doubt if this was some "back door" plan by the Big12 in case we were left out.

If we fail to get a championship game at 10 teams, I see expansion happening very quickly.

If that happens, I doubt all 4 Texas teams would be included together. I would guess that the state would be split in half...likely with TCU and Baylor being stuck together.
