BYU i would avoid so you don't have 3 time zones covered. I think you have to stay in the CST and EST.

If they go North/South - could make football a bit easier???

Couldn't you also argue that three time zones would be good for exposure as well? We would battle the west coast teams for TV time and recruits.

I'm wondering if we could get kicked out for bringing TCU down if they don't beat us by 289 points. :skeptical:

Schools worth adding: BYU, ND, Cinci, Uconn, Neb, Arkansas, Missouri (some pipe dreams and wishful thinking here i know)

There's a few that can be debated if they would be good adds, mostly old Southwest Conference teams not currently in the big XII. Either way I think adds must make geographic sense and bring some value. don't expand just for the sake of expanding.

I would stay away from BYU. All sorts of ramificiations concerning Sunday games. The Big 12 does not need BYU.

Maybe somebody floated this thinking it may make the committee more comfortable in putting B12 teams in the playoff this year. It's far-fetched, I know. The timing is interesting though.

Oxymoron? Is there anyone who would conceivably leave their existing conference and bring any sort of value? Nebraska, Arkansas, and Missouri don't count in my opinion. They have no reason to want to leave $$$ wise.

I don't see that as a real problem. so they play a lot more saturday and weeknight basketball games. That just doesn't seem like something that should be a make or break type of thing to me. They offer a large market and a decent programs in MBB and FB. That's the type of add you want the brings something to the table and doesn't take away from every other teams piece of the pie. A school like ours, who arguably brings in a small portion of the revenue pie for the conference, should want an add like this. Not an add like Mempis, Rice, SMU, etc.

by geographic sense i mean not a Florida team or something random like that. And I understand teams like Neb and Ark aren't going to jump, hence the fact I added:

maybe you skimmed over that part?

Neb should have never left. I think they have to realize that now. I was a big fan of the Big 8 and the original Big XII. I guess I long for those back

I didn't skim over anything. Barring all pipe dreams, who is a valuable add that makes geographic sense?

Uconn and Cinci both relatively close to WVU, only reason it would make any "geographic sense". They add legitimate markets (value) and are respectable in both sports. would make Big XII an even better MBB conference. BYU doesn't make any sense geographically, but I think would be a good add and they're gettable.

hell of a lot better than memphis, rice, SMU, or something like that.

If we add UCONN, do you think we could eventually have Kirk Ferentz in our conference?

So why wasn't BYU added to the Pac 12 if they were such a great get? BYU is located almost 1,900 miles from Morgantown WV. They do not play on Sundays.....and for television deals and basketball......that hurts. I see no reason to add BYU when there are better options out there that would be available. No real reason to expand, expecially when the Big 12 gets 2 teams into the Final Four of Football.

Cal and Stanford refuse to let BYU into the conference because they're a religious institution (or, at least that's the long-standing rumor).

Speaking of which, this gives me a great idea - the Pac 12 can take BYU, we'll take Cal and Stanford when they need a new place to land because they refuse to be in the same conference with BYU.

I will say, even if it's mediocre add for the conference, a new north division where we play Cincy, KU, Memphis, K-State, and WVU every year, but miss 2-3 of the south teams would be a godsend for getting ISU FB back on track.

This. End of story. I would approve for this reason. As it stands with our conf we may never see a bowl again. Cincinnati I can see and it's a huge university population wise, not that this matters, but Memphis I don't get as the tv market isn't that greatest

Eh. I'd rather lose to texas and OU in the hopes of one day beating them than beat teams like Memphis and cincy and pretend the north XII isn't conference USA.
