I doubt either Memphis or Cincy bring anything to the Big 12 other than less money and less Texas exposure for the current schools.

So we'd play our division every year plus 1 from each of the others. We'd play every team in our division in Ames every other year, and every team in the conference once every six years (and bring them to Ames once every 12).
For basketball, add in Notre Dame and make it a 24-game conference slate. 12 conference games at home and 12 away; switch who you get where every season.
Conference play would start in mid-December in order to fit it in, so our traditional date with Iowa would mark the end of non-conference play. It would be a bloodbath.
Five-day conference tournament in March (alternatively, only the top 16 qualify for the conference tournament, and do a 4-day tournament); the FedEx Forum in Memphis would be a central spot for that probably, or could rotate sites (Kansas City, Dallas, Charlotte, DC)?
TCU is the #3 choice right now and plays Iowa State. Unless they get upset or play a horrible game at home versus the Cyclones they are a virtual lock to make the playoffs. Florida State is on the edge at #4 and their unbeaten record is the only thing keeping them in the mix. They could get upset.
As far as Ohio State, they are rated #5. But the Chairman of the Selection committee said that position did NOT reflect the loss of JT Barrett. The next vote WILL reflect that loss of JT Barrett. Wisconsin could win and knock them out. Baylor will have their hands full with K-State IMO. IF OSU and FSU lose then Baylor is likely in the Final Four. Hard to justify taking any of the 2 loss teams over the Bears........especially when there is argument over whether it is TCU or Baylor. They simply take both.
I think there's plenty of argument if Mormons are as well. I haven't checked the Cave for CF's opinion, however...Baptists are Christians
Copying an earlier post of mine below.
Why do people think this?
The Big 12 is the only conference that has a reasonable shot at getting two teams in the playoff. That is only possible because they don't have a championship game.
Consider the following two scenarios:
1) Baylor and TCU are in the same division. Baylor would be playing K-State in the B12 Championship Game this Saturday, while TCU would be staying home. TCU would absolutely get left out at 11-1 behind a 12-1 Baylor who is Big 12 Champion, assuming Baylor beats a good K-State team twice. There's a chance K-State wins one of those and knocks them out, too.
2) Baylor and TCU are in different divisions. For obvious reasons, one of them would get left out by virtue of losing on the last weekend in the Championship Game to the other.
The only way that the Big 12 gets two in this year would precisely be because of the lack of a championship game. It's not hurting the conference at all. It might even be helping.
Let's look at the other conferences:
SEC - likely unaffected by championship game (Alabama in either way, Mizzou out either way)
Pac-12 - mixed results, but more bad than good (Oregon in with win and out with loss; Arizona maybe in with win and out with loss.)
ACC - all bad (FSU in with win and out with loss, GaTech out either way)
B1G - better than not (OSU maybe in with win)
So the existence of a championship game this season is certainly harmful for one conference (ACC) and potentially harmful for another (Pac-12), while being only potentially helpful for one (B1G).
If the Memphis FB program thinks they can waltz into the B12 and take away our rightful spot in the cellar, they've got another guess coming. :realmad:
Are you serious?
A 1 loss Big 12 team that will likely not be the clear champion of the league is ahead of an undefeated team from another power conference.
The only way the Big 12 gets passed over is if we beat TCU and KSU beats Baylor, and all the other 1 loss teams win.
The problem I have with BYU is if they dictate Monday through Saturday play only. They nearly bollixed the whole NCAA bracket a few years back. While I respect their adherence to the Sabbath, I don't respect the idea that they could impose it on the rest of the members of a conference with which they have a strictly secular association.
If they backed off that demand, wouldn't mind adding them.
Unless Wisconsin beats Ohio St (which may happen). Yeah I am very concerned that the big 12 gets skipped because it is not the traditional power names representing the big12.

According to a radio host in Nashville, the Big 12 is going to add two teams in the offseason: Cincinnati and Memphis. .
