We keep playing like this and you might be sitting alone.

You may be right, but I bet there are plenty of others that are willing to stick it out and support the program. No one can persuade me otherwise that JP isn't smart enough to make a decision on CPR if the FB program keeps going down the path it is on. I trust that JP will make the right decision when it comes to that, so why not support the program. I guess everyone has their right to opinion, so do as you may. All I ask is if anyone doesn't want to support the program find someone to take your tickets.

Here's the issue: a few years ago, excitement was an all-time high and having a ticket to an Iowa State game was a priviledge. Tickets were hard to come by, and were for some games almost doubling in value. I am still a season ticket holder, and probably will be for a few more years. The difference between two years ago and now is I'm not putting an extremely high priority on going. Case-in-point, my daughter has a soccer game at 10:00 on Saturday. A few years ago, she's probably skipping her game and going to the Iowa State game with us, or I convince myself I can miss one of her games. This Saturday, I'm probably going to her soccer game, not wanting to miss that and likely see another drubbing.

I'm not giving up on the program or CPR, but going to a game is falling further down my list of priorities, due to the risk of wasting an entire day watching what I watched Saturday.

Have fun with soccer, the real men will be watching our alma mater

This is totally understandable. I have a 2.5 year old, she witnessed her first game last Saturday. All though it may have been ugly she seemed to enjoy it. I really am not looking forward to choosing between her events and ISU events.

Yes, because real men miss watching their children do one of their favorite things in order to watch us most-likely take another ugly loss.

All I'm trying to say is there are so many hours in a weekend, and with the quality on the field getting worse and worse it becomes more tempting to just watch the game on TV and not waste an entire day.

I'm the newly-sober one. I went to my first tailgate ever not drinking and it was kind of boring. I'm right there with you watching it on TV. Next week I'll probably show up about 10:30 for the 11 AM game. No sense in walking around drinking 4 cans of Diet Coke. (Our tailgate partners got a divorce so we don't have a spot anymore).

The thing I remember about Mac...he always seemed to have a couple of phenomenal offensive weapons- Troy, Darren, Ennis, Sage, Seneca, Lane etc. Those guys could make explosive plays, which just made football fun to watch even if we were losing.

Not saying that's a reason Mac was better than CPR. But football was fun.

Not sure if you are serious. 2003 was anything but fun. 2004 and 2005 seasons had some success because of a terrible division and weak schedule. But it was not fun watching those teams **** a lot of wins down their leg. And the 2006 season was not fun either. Not sure what reality you are in.

My impression of soccer...

People run around randomly
Growth men fall over and writhe in agony, and then they're fine ten seconds later after the ref doesn't call anything
Europeans and wannabe Euros on the East Coast seem to love it for some reason
A ball is kicked

Fin.

When an international tournament is going, it's a good excuse to day drink on a weekday though.

I'd rather watch my kids do anything they love and that helps them grow than watch a national championship at ISU. But I guess I'm old school.

Just stop with this crap. I'd argue that the ones voicing their displeasure are doing much more for the program than those who happily gobble down the **** sandwich that is our football program right now.

If I remember right aren't you the one that didn't even get season tickets this year? If so, the number of posts you make on CF don't matter squat. Either your a supporter of the FB program through your wallet or your just a talker. I don't see how anyone that is not a season ticket holder's opinion matters at all.

well, you win the most illogical comment of the day award. How on earth you can come to that conclusion is beyond me. You have no idea what other areas of support someone may have for the entire school, whether it be through football or not. Being a season ticket holder lends ZERO credibility to an opinion. What it may mean is that other people have different priorities or simply can't afford it. In any case, get off your high horse. If you're so damned proud of your contribution, why don't you spell out how much you contribute in dollars and cents and then we'll all determine, in ratio, just what your contributions to the forum equate to. Nothing I hate more than someone who tries to belittle others when all we're talking about is opinion.

LOL. Highly doubtful someone is contributing to Iowa State Football if they do not buy any tickets.

What I hate are a bunch of naysayers coming here with no skin in the game and then saying we should dump our coach because we have hit a serious bump in the road. Time for the naysayers to help give us a push as we are stuck in the mud......rather than complain. The whining and complaining does nothing to help. It hurts the program.

Stormin...explain to me what "skin in the game" means to you. And allow me to present you a scenario...

I spent 4 years at ISU, contributed in various ways, was even a season ticket holder at one point...but no longer find that a tenable situation because of my family and my responsibilities. Am I a naysayer because I'm tired of 30+ years of crappy football and for hearing the same excuses? Is my opinion worth less? What do I need to contribute before you and the others consider it to be "skin"?

Finally, I happen to know one of the largest contributors to the ISU Athletic department. He's a personal friend of mine. In all our years, he's never once said to me "You know, I'd appreciate you just not share with me your ideas because I contribute so much that frankly, your opinion is worthless." Oddly enough, he and I usually agree.

I do appreciate your thoughts and if what you're trying to say is that people should be "invested" in Cyclone athletics, I agree. But let's not make this a money issue because to be honest, I highly doubt that most people on this site contribute enough to make any significant difference at all. In the end, this site is FOR opinions...and it wouldn't be much fun without them.

Quite likely the dumbest thing I've read on this board.

Complaining is not contributing. Sorry. Complaining has never helped in changing any situation.......anywhere.

If you are that tired of being a Cyclone Football Fan then perhaps it is time to move on. We have had a century of crappy football with brief glimmers of success. We are trying to make success occur more often. Last year was not a good year. But really no worse than the previous 3 years before CPR arrived. We have another year like last year this year and the pressure will be on CPR for 2015. We are stocking a lot of Redshirt talent in classes and seem to be slowly upgrading our talent. My suggestion is to back off on the complaining for now and see how the ENTIRE season plays out first.

Showing support for the team during adverse times shows what great fans we have and makes a real impression on those who we are recruiting. Having a bunch of negative ****** is a real turnoff. It does not help. It hurts.

I hate the term "rebuilding". It's stupid. Nowhere else do people use that term except when your team sucks.

Is the basketball team rebuilding? They lost most of their production yet no one says they are rebuilding.

/rant

You lose all credibility when you try comparing basketball and football teams, especially if you don't know that every team goes through rebuilding stages to different extents.

Actually not true. Complaining is often what leads to fixes and contributions. If no one is ever allowed to complain (voice opinions) about something how would anything ever lead to action. If people hadn't started by complaining about taxation without representation we wouldn't be a country. The thing is if complaining (voicing opinions) gets loud and constant enough it leads to action.

Go ask anyone who is a product/development manager in the tech world and most new developments/actions are generated by people voicing their opinion (complaining) about what is wrong with the product. There are lots of companies that thrive of hearing complaints as it allows them to fine tune products.

Not apples to apples with ISU's situation but to think that people complaining (voicing their opinion) has never helped anything is crazy.

Complaining does nothing.....Doing is what accomplishes things. The complainers need to to lead the way for the fixes and contributions. Complain to JP about CPR and then tell JP that you are willing to step up to the plate to pay for the millions the buyout will cost us and the extra millions it will take to hire that elusive coach you are seeking.

Those complainers you speak did not just complain........they went out and actually became Doers. So become a Doer. That would mean getting out your checkbook to pay for CPR's replacement.
