Sailor Jerry was awesome until 2010. But then they made some changes to their formula (decreased the amount of lime and vanilla) and while it is still decent it is nowhere near as good as it was prior to the change.

It took some experimentation. But I found that Brinley's Gold Vanilla rum is a great substitute for the old Sailor Jerry.

Try Glenmorangie 10. Should be +/- $45 and I think quite good.

Glenmorangie 10 year. I think it is better than Glenlivet 12.
