Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's not a stupid argument at all. I agree with you that ISU has a good chance to get Vaughn. Like I said, I think it will come down to ISU and Kansas.

It's stupid because we don't know what Vaughn is thinking...AT ALL.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Selden's had games where he was great, others where he seemed to disappear. Unless he becomes much more consistent as the season progresses it seems like he certainly should stay. An extra year can do wonders for some players.Besides, in some ways SG is the hardest position to secure a high draft pick. PGs, C, and the very best wing guys always seem to be most of the lottery picks.
The only thing that worries me is that there aren't any other good SG prospects heading into the draft this year. Selden is probably the best choice. We'll see. Hope he stays.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

States right.

Vaughn has two visits left between Kentucky, UNC, and Kansas. Kentucky and UNC have both been real dicks and stopped going after Vaughn only to go back to him when they didn't get what they want, but those two programs are a bit higher than Kansas and I could see him just not going to Kansas.

He's got a UNC visit scheduled in February. Provided he sticks to the plan, that leaves Kansas and Kentucky fighting for his last visit. We'll see where he goes I guess... eh?

He can visit both. He has taken two officials and has UNC scheduled.

A lot of scouts love Zach LaVine from UCLA. He's really been coming on strong.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Of course you do, you are a jhawk fan. Name one thing KU would have to offer him that ISU wouldn't?
Playing time? ISU has more to offer
Showcase his skillset? No advantage, both would get equal exposure on tv and one can argue with less egos, ISU would be better set to let him be front and center.
Superior Coach? I would say a draw. KU obviously has won the conference an insane amount of times but when you continuously have more talented guys than any coach in the league, that accomplishment is lessened a bit.
ISU has been competitive with everyone in the league
So help me out here, what does KU offer that ISU doesn't?

I agree with everything you said except that. I love Hoiberg, and he's one of the hottest coaches in the country, but Bill Self is probably the best coach in the country, if not the best than top 3. For me it comes down to Izzo or Self for best coach in the country.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

You never know. Getting that dealt with now might work out for the best in the long run. Brandon Rush was headed to the NBA until he blew out his knee in a pickup game. He returned to KU, won a national title and was drafted higher than he was originally projected. Maybe a full year of rehab and strength work helps his overall readiness, who knows?

Yeah, and it may never be the same again. If he would have left he would be a millionaire sitting out with a back injury, instead of a college kid who may never be the same. Now he has "serious back injury" stamped to his name.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

FWIW Chad Ford has these guys ahead of Seldon at the SG spot:

Andrew Wiggins
Rodney Hood
Gary Harris

Then has Seldon going at #20 overall.

That's not to mention players who could play either the 2/3 in the NBA or will be moving from PG to SG in the NBA like Parker, Exum, Smart, LaVine, McDermott, ect.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The only way KU could further pile on their domination of us, would be for Vaughn to chose the Jayhawks, so I will assume that is what will happen until proven otherwise.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Did KU, UK, and UNC offer McKay?

Doesn't appear so. Indiana, Marquette and ISU were some of McKay's top offers out of High School.
Though his offers his offers out of Indian Hills were:
"Following this season at Indian Hills as a sophomore, McKay is expected to have two years of eligibility at Marquette. JUCOrecruiting.com reports that Indiana, Florida, Memphis, Wichita State, Iowa State and others were in the mix to land McKay."
Marquette adds JC forward Jameel McKay | Hoopniks

I'd say Indiana, Marquette, Flordia, and Memphis have a good track record of getting players to the next level, he was rumored to be drawing intrest from Arizona before commiting to ISU.

That said, I think we should stop the derailment of this thread and get back to all things Rashad.
