As I was driving home for Christmas, I got to wondering: how fast do you all usually drive on the Interstate? For me, I like to stay around 5 over. This is for Interstate only, NOT expressways/tollways/freeways/or in town. This is assuming dry conditions and not in a hurry to get anywhere.
Discuss.

Depends on the destination, how early/late I am running, conditions, etc. Normally about 5-8 mph over.

I am usually around 7-8 over. I get away with it a lot easier in South Dakota. I'm always cautious when first entering Iowa and then I speed up the farther in I go.

I usually go about 6-8 mph over. I figure that's right on the edge where the po-po pigs give me a warning hopefully

Normal conditions, 15-20 over....not a fan of people cruising in the left lane. Usually driving somewhere for work that is 4-5 hrs away.

If kid is in the car, then I drive the speed limit.

Between ames and dm 80 ( there really is no place for an officer to turn around, just slow down at on ramps)
between ames and hwy 20 75
I80 to IC typically 75-78 but its easy to find a pack and jump in and go 80
I235 between Ankeny/WdM 5-8 over never more than 10 bc of cameras

Always within 5 mph over in commercial vehicles for work.

I feel like people are afraid to put 10+ over because of the ridicule they will get for being so reckless from everyone.

I get around
Most of our driving on an Interstate is in our motorhome pulling a car with four wheels down so I do 57-62 mph. There are a number of reasons why:

1. Fuel economy
2. The tow vehicle shouldn't be towed faster than 65 mph or transfer case damage could occur
3. Safety-the motorhome doesn't stop as fast as a normal vehicle, especially when towing
4. Time-We are retired so we don't have to get to anywhere in a hurry

I've heard a cop or 2 claim they usually go by "8 you're great, 9 you're mine"...

So I stick around 7 over usually.
