An old nemesis They're only one seed up, but, they have good credentials and could be higher except for inconsistency They finished 3rd in the SEC, a game ahead of ATM and one behind Kentucky. They have a couple of big wins - South Carolina and Kentucky. Twice in the last five games they were held to 38 points. Overall they are similar to us - we score 67 and allow 57, them 66 and 53. There's not one player to shut down - everyone scores and rebounds. They look a lot like us with two young, small guards and senior forwards - I think we can do this on the basis of our front line.

I remember we were getting destroyed at half time once in an NCAA game to Georgia and when BF was asked what to change he said "honestly, I don't think we have a chance in this one....we'll just do our best"

Surprisingly, Vegas has Iowa State -7 against Georgia and almost a 3-to-1 moneyline favorite. We were actually 1 or 2 point underdogs @Gonzaga.

Interesting odds in your updated log5 analysis.

I'd liken Georgia to West Virginia, on a good day for WV. They have a style that may be a difficult matchup for us, which does not show up on paper. At the same time, we have strengths and proven performance that can overcome it. Kind of like Delaware against WVU. Well, not quite, because we don't have Delle Donne. But Delaware beat WVU also because of sound play as a team that eventually broke down WVU's pressure. ISU can do that to Georgia if we play our game.

This is what I thought. We have been somewhat unlucky, or maybe on purpose so far, meeting teams that we don't match up to real well. Still, this is the NCAA and we need to put it all on the line. I think we have a great chance despite this setup.

We will be a matchup problem for them with our size. They ar not a team that is good from behind the arc and are like the Zags and don't shoot free throws well (although I think the Zags had a great day against us). Even their guards don't shoot well from deep. Not a lot of blocks but James is a very real threat as she has 78 steals this year. They like to run on offense so we will need to get back on d in a hurry.

Be efficient, value the ball on each posession, and beat the hell out of them on the boards, hit our freethrows, and we should win this one and be one step closer to the Big Easy. If we make it there, then I am going. I would probably have to change planes about four times, but I would get there. Go Sisters...

I have been waiting ever since the moment that we lost the game with OSU. Can't lose this one or my wait will be until next fall.

So, again "physical" means they can just push-up on our players when they pick up the dribble on the 3 line. I get sick of this. Yes, they've called the obvious stuff, but this is what all these teams are doing against us. We have to be strong with the ball.

Shout out to our Pep Band. These kids have been great and vocal in both teams' sites. Just awesome.

They just beat the 1 seed Stanford

That's why this season is an extraordinary one yet frustrating. Another Fanatic said that we could beat Stanford if we meet Stanford at the NCAA and I think he was right. Judging from how we played against Georgia - it is not impossible to beat Stanford. Oh well....

Stanford wasn't that good. That was why I was so depressed after we lost the game with Georgia. Beating Stanford would have been such a high profile win. I thought we played a poor game, and got unlucky with Georgia. That is the way it goes. A little luck that we never seem to get.

And Georgia beat them without being able to make shots like they did against us. Their game vs ISU was their miracle game.

Yep, they were back to shooting their season-average 29% from 3PT. Guess that is "March Madness," we were just on the wrong end of it.

Also noticed that Greenfield played only 2 minutes for Stanford, with a box line of all 0s. And this is with Kokenis out of the lineup. Isn't it interesting that Stanford's depth is as thin as ISU's, playing primarily 5 or 6, and Greenfield, a sophomore, is not part of it. We had 2 sophomores starting, and a freshman getting more minutes than Greenfield. Greenfield could have been an impact player at ISU. Think of the number of minutes of game time she would have had at ISU in her first two years.

Greenfield was kicked in the hand early in the game and had her had wrapped up and was icing it during the game. After the injury, she did not come back in the game.

Always Thought this was the year to beat Stanford. While Greenfield had an injury is not like she really has played much that all the sure Stanford. I think play more last year than she did this year.

Could be because the fresman they have are better than her. She made a choice and will have to live with it as far as playing time goes. We do not know if she choose Stanford for the education (reputation) or being able to say I played on a team that goes to the final four most years.
